I bought this truck about a month ago and have been cranking and sometimes driving it about twice a week.
I changed the fuel filter 2 days ago refilled with atf and cranked and ran it for 10-15 minutes. No leaking around the filter.
We had a lot of rain yesterday and the truck is parked with the hood uphill. I went out and tried to crank it and it just started to crank and then stopped.
Now all it will do is turn over. I opened the hood and there is a puddle of water on top of the air filter.
I dried it up but have not looked in the intake.
What should I be doing?

Thanks.

pulling the glow plugs and cranking the starter.

I would also be dumping WD-40 down the GP holes, letting it sit and repeat the purge again.

don't hold your face over the holes while cranking, unless of course you need a bath.

even then I would wear safety glasses.

I don't know when the glow plugs were out. Will anymore damage be done by spraying the glow plugs down with wd 40 or pb blaster and letting it sit for a few hours to hopefully loosen any seized threads? Or should I be frantic to get the water out ASAP?

Definitely some confusion here.
Let's start with some English.
Crank = turn over. Same same.
Crank vs start. Not the same.

So it's cranking and not starting?
Or it completely stopped turning over?

It's turning over. So cranking but not starting. Not locked up. Should I proceed as directed? Don't want to be locking it up.

if it cranks over, get some diesel to it or crack in a can and get it started and up to temp asap.
if its hydrolocked it wont spin at all.
if its got a bit of water in it.... but turns over, get it running ASAP

With that I would say all the fuel drained back to the tank. Especially since you parked uphill.

if you can crank it over, it should fire after it gets fuel.
I was under the impression that the engine would not crank over.

no, I would not pull the glow plugs if I can get it to spin, I would fill the fuel filter with diesel, make sure its getting fuel from the tank, purge the air out of the system,
and fire it off.

crack in a can is starting fluid. and can cause catastrophic damage if sprayed into the intake with the glow plugs connected.

if you cant get the engine to fire,
disable the glow plug controller.
spray a SMALL burst at the intake horn
start.

Added a little fuel to the filter and nothing coming out of the schrader valve. What's the best way to know I'm getting fuel?
