Tow/haul mode

If your tow/haul mode quits working or is intermittent, pull the rubber boot thing at the base of the shifter and find the orange wire. At the clip holding it give it a little tug. Most likely you will pull it in half because it sits right at the tilt joint and takes a lot of abuse. Just strip it and reconnect the inner white wires. Also would be good to add in some wire to keep from recurrence. Then yay you're done and it works again.

What year models have you seen this the worst in? We've had an 01,03,05,06,07,09 and still have 4 of those.

The only one I've seen and fixed was a 2002. Unfortunately I'm not around a lot of Chevy's anymore. But apparently it's pretty common. Just shifting bends and rubs the wire against the metal clip. Plus add in a tilt wheel and it wears faster. But I'm sure all 2000 and up.

Thanks for the heads up, 3 of our trucks have over 200k with no issues but you never know when they can start.

No problem. The one I fixed had near 400k. Some I'm sure it's had more abuse.
