Stripped glow plug threads

No, I've never herd of that happening because the glow plugs are softer than the cast iron heads. The threads are matric and they are M10x1 (saeJ5480). Look at a glow plug. Just below the threads you will see a taper seating area. This is what the glow plug seals up against in the head. You need to be aware of this if you are going to try to clean up the threads in the head. Use plenty of grease on the tap so its collects and holds the metal thats cleaned out of the threads.

I was able to remove all 8 plugs...no problem. The passengers side front plug seemed "loose" as I removed it. The threads were not as snug fitting as the other seven. When I put the plug back in that hole, and snugged it down, I didn't feel that positive seating of the other seven plugs. I just felt "mushy"....I didn't take it back out ( fingers crossed )....I'm waiting for it to work loose and POP...blow a hole through my hood!
