Just wanted to bring this to everyones attention.

NVOB Website

This is a newly started non-profit, with the stated mission;

To provide education about and support for VegOil as a fuel;
to facilitate VegOil discussions and events;
to promote VegOil research, analysis and funding

Currently it is in the early forming stages, with a need for members, vender support, etc.

Cynthia Shelton, founder, director and VO enthusiast, is currently seeking to fill the (volunteer) Officer positions of Secretary and Treasurer, both of which need to be within driving distance of the SF Bay area headquarters in San Bruno. Her contact info is listed on the Web Site.

Soon there will be an effort to attract board members who will be: (quotes from Cynthia's posts)
"a team chosen for their skills, resources, connections, and dedication. They may or may not be directly linked to the industry or have financial interests in VegOil advancement. They will be professionals, with experience in non profit operations."
Currently, the plan is for long term strategy of the NVOB to be voted on and decided once the board is assembled.

"Right now what the website does is provide an archive for VegOil information and news, a calendar for relevant events, a cool book otherwise unavailable in this country, and a lot of plans to become more. If you want to help build the NVOB, become a member. Click on Help Build This Website or the blue Volunteer button to find out what needs to be done."

While Cynthia is not claiming to be the best person for the job or the most knowledgable, she saw the need and decided to take action. In her words;
"If someone can unify the VegOil community better, I suggest they step forward and get cracking. But in the meantime, the NVOB is the only non-online, organized SVO community doing any activity in an organized fashion out there.

Has anyone experimented yet with modifying their vehichle to run on wvo? If filtered and heated properly, will it gunk up the engine? Also, will it make your car smell like a deep fryer?

What kind of car did you modify? What kind of system do you have for filtering the oil before putting it in a tank? How long do you have to run the engine on petrol before you can switch over to wvo? Sorry for all the questions, but I am fascinated by this!

What kind of car did you modify?
'97 Powerstroke F-350

What kind of system do you have for filtering the oil before putting it in a tank?
Settled oil from cubies is poured through a 200 micron screen into a 55 gal open drum. Oil is heated to 120*F-140*F then pumped through three sediment filters (20, 5 & 1 micron) into a closed top drum (two bungs) where it's heated again by a band heater and allowed to remain at that temp over night. Closed top drum is allowed to cool and settle as water and contaminates drop to the bottom of the drum. Oil is pumped off the top and pumped into a 275 gal IBC for final storage. Filtering oil is easy. Making sure there is no water in the oil is the challenge. Getting a good (water free) oil source from the get go will eliminate headaches down the line.

How long do you have to run the engine on petrol before you can switch over to wvo?
Usually about +/- 10 miles. Less in summer...more in winter.

Where did you buy your filter kit from, or did you make it yourself? Have any pictures to share?
