Sorry for late response. Is it auto? If it's auto 40-45 is the norm

I just filled up today 48.5 MPG

Is it low on power?

Clean the intake
Check air filter and fuel filter
Tire pressures
Clean intercooler
Don't drive too hard

Check out tdiclub.com, its awesome source fo TDI's.

I have an JW TDI 1.8L and it usually gets 25 MPG. I know a lot of people say it gets 40 MPG and it does but ON THE HIGHWAY. It does not get that type of mileage in the city. 25 MPG is still pretty good though. Very good cars.

Just got back from vacation drove from Houston to Vegas got 42mpg av. @ 80mph then from Vegas to Bakersfield got 54 mpg @ 70-80mph went to friends race shop had a new down pipe made for the jetta and on the way home from northern California got 44-45mpg av. @ 80 mph so with just a down pipe I gained 2-3 mpg since returning to Houston I had the last muffler cut off so now I have a straight pipe turbo back seams to be doing much better but still on the same tank of fuel since I got home so Im not sure of the milage this is an 06 jetta BRM engine with a DSG (automatic) trans everything else is stock;Sweet
Hope that helps
