Not sure if thisis the place, mods please move if necessary.

New owner of an 01 quad cab 4x4, auto OD trans, 4:10s with a LS. Central PA, retired on disability, and got a LOT to learn about the 24 valve engine.

Not my first diesel, that honor belongs to the Opsvagen, 1988 6.2 Chevy blazer with over 300k on it. Retired for my son's restoration project.

Welcome Ops
What Travis said. Kick back, relax,
and don't forget to test the moderators' limits
once in a while, they really do enjoy the attention. :)

As for your 24V, congrats. Nice ride.
If you don't have gauges, get them, especially
a fuel pressure gauge. Very important with a 24V.
The elec lift pumps are prone to fail. If you don't like
the idea of gauges, at least put in a low fuel pressure
warning system. A light, beeper, anything.
When the lift pump fails it places a lot of strain
on your VP44 (injector pump) by making it draw
fuel, which it was never designed to do. It likes
to be on top and push. :Sly That's about all you'll
have to do if it is going to remain stock.

Ops, don't put off the f/p gauge, or light thingy.
Your injector pump is quite expensive.

Well, it has 140,000 on it, I think that the pump must have been replaced somewhere along the line. It seems to run quite well.

got some odds & ends yet to go, will check fuel pressure asap.

Not here...
Like rubberfish said gauges are a big must on these trucks... The LP pump can fail without notice. When selecting a fuel pressure gauge make sure its a mechanical, without isolator, and has a scale of at least 30 PSI.

Don't bother with a low fuel pressure light... There not worth the money. I've current using the one supplied with the Campaign pump and it flickers and blinks randomly under hard throttle but the fuel pressure is still 13 PSI... Go figure...

Here is a pic of what you need...

Welcome abaord. As stated above, the OEM lift WILL give up the ghost whenever t feels like it.....I had one that lasted less then 10k miles. A fuel pressure gauge like the one listed above is definately worth the money ( ebuilt injection pump will run approx $1200)
Good luck.
