Been lurking around here alot when info gathering on my project truck so I might as well join. I'm not a stranger to the IDI but comparatively I've had more Rangers lol. That all changed when I had a kid so instead of a car or SUV I chose to get another IDI. This time a crew cab.

Here was my first one. It was your basic 91' 7.3 NA

So now I got this mess which is a 94 factory turbo truck with a ZF5

Yummy core support. Still overall not bad for a Michigan truck

Pulled the motor as it was leaking from every orifice and decided it was time for an overhaul at 265k

Buddy and I chose to remove the doghouse as this was the best method to take the motor out whole and because we were gonna replace the busted AC unit and rebuild the core support

Here's the motor with all new seals and a fresh coat of high temp paint. Every dang seal. This was a "fun" weekend. Also took the opportunity to replace the Glow plugs with Motorcraft ZD9s, replace the lift pump, block heater, thermostat, oil cooler, etc. Pretty much everything but rebuilding the heads and bottom end. If anyone knows where I can get the decal that goes on the valve cover that'd be awesome.

Can anyone decipher how close to the end of IDI production this motor is???

While waiting on parts I changed the dash lights and stuff over to LEDs

Finally new shoes. I don't much care for the steel wheels and those ugly hubcaps so I got a decent set of 16x7 alloys and a set of LT265 75R16 General Grabber AT2s.

Pretty much where I'm at now. It starts though not well and it still needs alot of work but hey it's moving under it's own power which is alot considering it's taken me 7 months to get to this point.

You will have better luck posting photos by going to the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom and posting there, like you did on your first post. Looks good!
