11/32 drill for 1/8 tap is correct without reaming, however drilling with hand held drill in less then ideal situation will tend to make an oversize hole, leading to have to tap deeper with npt tap, you would be better off with a 5/16 drill or smaller first, then correct size after, hole will be more accurate, you dont have much room for error with the thin wall of the manifold, ideal is to use a npt reamer to size hole but an overkill,$$, I typically use a Q or R drill in my business, and nptf taps,I typically need shallow npt tapped holes, these drills a tad smaller.

Laserjock, when you said "If you are NA, just start the truck and drill. Won't have to worry about the metal shavings.", do you literally mean to have the truck running while drilling or would it be just as effective to drill and then run the engine? I am nervous about drilling the manifold and do not want to screw this up.

Pretty sure he would've meant to drill then start the truck. I didn't start the truck until the gauge was wired and sitting in the pod with the probe in the manifold. Did it all through the splash shield on the passenger side with the wheel off. Manifold on the truck. Worst part was the plastic clips and rusted screws holding the splash shield to the fender

I did mine engine running to blow filings out instead of the turbo eating it
