I can't find weight specs anywhere, and the web shows many conflicting guesses.. What does and 85 F-250 diesel 4x4 weigh? Has anyone ran one across a scale without a load?

My 87 weighs #6500lbs empty. I'm going to guess that your 85 will be simmilar.

Registered weight on mine (85 F250 reg cab 4x4 auto no frills interior package) is 4300 - not sure how they got that weight. From what I remember hauling scrap some years ago I'm around 5500-6k empty. Maybe more if the toolbox is full of junk. A lot is going to depend on what other stuff is on it (hitch, winch, custom bumper, toolbox, junk behind the seat) and how full the tanks are. I'd guess 5000-5500# striped and completely empty, probably 6000-6500 for a typical rig.

Ironically note on this - I've owned 2 85 F250s, but with the 6.9/C6/4.10 rear, but reg cab. One was 2wd XLT and the other 4wd plain trim. Registered weight on the 2wd was something like 4700#. the 4wd is 4400#..... :dunno

This load scaled in at 8800lbs. That is a bed full of damp, rotted decking.

the sticker on the door is not the correct weight, you need a scale to get the weight of the vehicle

I ACTUALLY ANSWERED MY OWN question today. I was at a dump in another county today and the scale said 6020 Lbs empty, without my shell and slide-out.

Wow, she's a lightweight. No wonder the older rigs do well with fuel economy.

I'm surprised they are so heavy empty. My 460 crew cab weighs 5500# with nothing in it...

My old diesel was 6700#, but i had a ton of stuff in it even when the bed was "empty"...

7200 pounds with me in it and a tank of fuel. My truck was a 1993 F250 ex. cab, long box, ZF S5-47, D60 swap and a 7.3 non turbo.

Is that pre big bumper or post big bumper? Just curious because my truck is exactly like yours except for the big bumper and gear ratio. I wish there were a data base somewhere for this information. Tons of internet searches have netted me nothing as well. It's hard to get a hard number because the trucks vary so much I guess. If the mods could pick a few documented examples it might make a good sticky.... :D

That was before the bumper. The bumper probably added around 50-100#

85 F-250, 4x4, 4 speed manual, diesel, stock wheels and tires, one full tank, one occupant (250 Lbs) dock rear bumper with additional class 4 tow hitch, spare tire, assorted cab junk, empty bed = 6020 Lbs.
I usually ( but not when weighed) have a heavy shell, a 200 Lbs 8 foot bed slid-out, tool box, crate of towing accessories, 5+ assorted tow hitches, portable winch, 2 dogs, shotgun, etc.
