Correct, but I know it can be done with the cover off because we did it on my buddies truck.

If it doesn't leak with the top off, it could be that top oring.
With my buddies, soon as we put air to it, you could hear it gurgle. Once it blew all the oil out, the air came out faster than it went in.
His ended up being the oil orings in the top of the Injector.
But he went ahead and replaced the nipples also.

OK update hit air to it the other night bad leak. Had both valve covers off dint see a thing but still a leak.

Paid for a hpop discharge line still have a leak but it's just very very faint in the back ground.

I'm thinking of putting dye in the air line to see where it's coming from

Should be able to hear where the air leak is coming from.
There's a really small oring under the J tube to HPOP fitting area. I've seen those blow out before or if they replaced the J tube, then the oring may have gotten pinched.

Alright it passed everything going as I was putting it together. Had to order an egr flex tube for the water but that's it hopefully it starts.

That's for the help the old J line on the hpop is going to be a new testing tool for that style of pump.

I plan to take the line machine it to fit like the cover does. Then cut the J line off thread in a pressure gauge to 4000 psi so I can see what the pumps makes and the top port threaded so I can plug it or air test it I'll have to post pic when I get time. Might be this winter when I do it

Ok well got it back together 1500 psi 47% duty it's started. Run for 45 to an hour and die so while it was hot check FICM voltage 48.

Great so I'm about to light a match and burn the truck down

I'm thinking it may be PCM or crankshaft position sensor but I'm tired of putting part in this thing.

But that about right on psi with the IPC duty range max on them are 3000 at 85 or so far as my knowledge is.

The other day it ran 60 miles after warm up from the shop to my work. The sat playing with it like hpop j line ficm stuff the starts today.

I can get it to start after I take off the cover so far that the only time it starts.

Replaced hpop the it started
Went back it replaced J line started.
This truck doesn't have dumy plugs like everyone says it has

Still seems like a high Duty cycle for 1500 psi.
It's not a linear graph with psi vs Duty cycle.
I didn't think 03- early 04 had the dummy plugs.
With everything together, does it now hold air pressure?

Yes didn't hear any air they have stand up pipes.

Why I don't know why they couldn't pressure the fuel like 7.3 idi amd used electronic solenoid to open the injector.

Try unplugging the ICP sensor?
There's not a ton of difference between the 7.3 and 6.0 injectors. They both still use hpo to pressurize the fuel.

Yeah 900 psi no start.
I know 7.3 and 6.0 are really similar but I'm might be going back to my 7.3 idi easy to figure out.

I'm mentally tire and physical tired after removing all the way down to the hpop and remove both vavle covers.
