SIL Dodge Ram 2002 1500 PU 4.7 engine is overheating. Actually cracked the fill neck on the degasser tank.

Bring engine up to temp and when shut off, pop's the cap and sprays coolant all over.

Replaced tank. Original 16 PSI cap.

T'stat is acting strange, replaced with new. Still over heating. Has 195* t'stat.

Water pump temp. is 225*, t'stat housing same 225*, upper hose to rad. at 170*, bottom hose to t'stat 155*. Checked with Laser therm.

Replaced the fan clutch. Needed it, as the clutch would not engage, the thermo coil would not turn the little shaft.

Hayden book say's 2002 t'stat is 181* all others 195* but original is a 195*.

Going to replace the stat again. Any suggestions?

Something else, helped change the spark plugs, what a hell of a job. Four hrs. and 3 gallons of sweat. Never in my life have I ever seen an individual coil on each plug. It's a wonder the engine even ran with 131,000 miles on the plugs, gap was .125, new plug gap is .040.

Changed the t'stat, still overheating.

Is the radiator aluminum tubes or copper?

Rad is aluminum. SIL put the t'stat in backwards. Backflushed the rad, put the t'stat in the right way, seems to be OK now. Thank's for all the help.
