Will a 1st gen power steering pump work with a 24v?
Don't know if the 1st gens had HydroBoost.
I think the 1st Gen trucks had vacuum brakes...I know my friend's old '91 W-250 had a vacuum booster.
Note the vacuum booster in the upper right of the picture
I think '97 would still be 12 valve; IIRC they switched to the 24 valve midway through '98.
I'm not sure if the power steering pump will work, but I imagine it would, although you may have to get creative with the hydroboost return line...
Thanks I was going to give mine to a friend. But he'll be better off buying a new one.
It's got a 24v swapped in.
You can swap the cans on the back of the pumps
Is there a two-return-port can that'll go onto a PS pump on a first-gen 6BT?
for my 4bt, , (should be the same as the 6bt) I bought this pump as cheap as I could find it, swapped cans and turned in the new pump with my old can to get the core charge back.
