    pre fill oil filter?

Not worth the effort if you are changing the oil warm. There is enough film on everything to protect for the 1-2 seconds it takes the filter to fill and get back up to pressure. Just don't rev until the pressure is up. As jrollf said unless you only fill the outside you are putting...

I want a nee Dodge for Christmas - which one?

I got a 06 SRW for sale that meets everything else you wanted. Been in AZ since 2010 so no rust. Send me a PM if interested. The manuals and Autos have the some power for 04.5 to 07. 07.5-08 are 6.7 motors with DPF and EGR unless they have been deleted. If you look at a deleted truck be sure...

Check Lift pump pressure. A bad lift pump will also toast the VP44.

Adding Intercooler to a IDI Banks Sidewinder

I wound up selling my IDI and going to a CRD cummins before I could do the intercooler, however, Hypermax does have a top hat with their intercooler kit that look promising to use. Never got around to actually getting one though. Good luck.

    Fuel tank pickup/sender wiring?

    Filters are cheap and easy.

    Fuel tank pickup/sender wiring?

Sorry. I was thinking IDI. Does Ford racing make a high performance pump for that application? Have you checked the pressure under load to see if it is the pump?

    Fuel tank pickup/sender wiring?

Put a Holley red or Regulated Blue in-line fuel pump and bypass the mechanical lift pump. Don't get the pressure much more than 6psi or you start advancing the timing on your injector pump.

    Fuel tank pickup/sender wiring?

Actually consider that a good thing. When the stock lift pump goes out it is pretty easy to replace. If you have a in tank pump you have to drop the tank to change it. With the stock IDI pump you can always bypass it and put an inline electric pump without much effort. I need a better lift...

    Fuel tank pickup/sender wiring?

Most likely they can. The hard part is usually finding a new float piece. You won't know for sure until you drop the tank.

    Synthetics worth it?

Also don't forget that Synthetic oils tend to be higher detergent so they tend to clean the sludge off the seals that were hold them from leaking before.

    Fuel Filter Light On Always

I agree dropping is easier. If you decide to just burn it out, Don't forget to put algae killer in it first. You will burn through a few fuel filter just running it out though.

    Synthetics worth it?

Sounds like a 2x improvement to me. I've seen Royal Purple show lower wear particles in it at 21k miles than regular oil had at 3K miles based on oil analysis.

    Pyrometer Limits

I would wait to turn anything up until you move the probe. Ambient temperature or more important intake temperature plays a big role. Get cold out side air in to the intake and your EGT will come down, pull from the engine compartment and it goes up. With a turbo motor it isn't hard to...

    Pyrometer Limits

When you can buy brand new injectors for about $30-35 each I wouldn't waste time with used ones unless you just happen to know the exact history of them. As cheap as they are it isn't worth fooling with used parts IMHO.

    Pyrometer Limits

Aluminum cools faster so it doesn't load heat as bad. That is the main reason aluminum heads on a gas motor allow more compression which equates to more power.

    1992 F250 XLT 4wd

The body has about 225K. The previous owner claimed the motor was replaced at about 100K. The data tag on the motor says it is a 93 motor and the VIN on the truck shows a early 92 build. The title claims it was first registered in Sep 92 so I tend to believe the previous owner.

    Pyrometer Limits

According to my book on the factor turbo IDI there are a couple of things that could explain why the Cummings lives at higher tempatures than our IDI likes. 1. The turbo motor has a Piston head that was anodized for crack resistence so it could better with stand the pressures and heat caused...

Banks says to keep it under 1050 with their sidewinder turbo kit. That is on the hot side of the Turbo. I would try to say below 1100 for a NA.
