    thanks! ...as usual you guys have cut straight to the heart of the matter... so the DMF was a misguided effort...somewhere there was a director of engineering who let this one get off the rails. Where was Bill Ford when all this was going on??? so an SMF will not turn a ZF into scrap...

    nuts...6 pt vs 12 pt OK...I bought an '87 F250 with a 6.9 (body is falling off) so I finally have the engine for my project truck. No turbo in the plans but ARP studs have a certain "cool" factor. What is the advantage/disadvantage of 12 point nuts? thanks,

    wind resistance? how does wind resistance factor into this? If wind resistance is x at 40 mph, is it 8x at 80 mph? And how significant is that with respect to mileage? I've read that the torque peak is ~ 1600 rpm for our engines. Is that the optimum rpm for best mileage? just wondering,

    no turbo...plain jane IDI...tires are 235-85R16...front axle is solid. I'll call the local wrecking yard tomorrow re axle prices...may have to wait for the taxman to deliver my refund...
