Wow, I had forgotten about this post. I did get the bearings installed, I was doing a full front end rebuild at the time so the other side was torn down as well. if I recall correctly, I drove the bearing in down to the bevel. I have about 13k on the rebuilt front end and all is well.
Ok, I know I should've measured the depth of the bearings inside the spindle before I drove them out, but I forgot. Can anyone tell me how far to drive in the replacements? To be clear this is the inner bearing that the stub shaft rides on in the back of the spindle. This is for a Dana 50 if...
I am in the middle of a front axle rebuild and I have found my drivers side long shaft is not useable. This is the inner portion of the drivers side, from a '97 F-250.
Thanks
So, I was in the middle of front wheel bearing replacement when I found that the previous owner had installed the inner spindle nut (dana 50 TTB) backwards. This meant the locking pin was smashed off and would require replacement. Because of this I had to order a replacement nut and the truck...
Ok, I am back, with a new '97 to add to my collection. Nicer condition than my '95 and runs much better. I have started taking care of the issues from the previous owner and I have found that the roof is leaking. It appears that maybe the roof gutters are split and leaking down into the ceiling...
After a lot of aggravation, I picked up another pump and I am swapping it out with one that will fit the correct hose. I bought a hose off an '88 which fit the pump, but would not route back to the steering box. It seems the PO cut a hole in the inner fender guard to make his hose fit. Thanks...
After doing some comparison of the old hose, it seems the previous owner may have installed a hose of an IDI truck, perhaps out of necessity? Anyway, the ends are different between the tow hoses, the old has an O-ring at the end, the new has a tapered end . I cannot get the new hose to seal up...
I need an assist with my power steering hose. I blew the line last night and checking parts stores today gives me a hose which does not resemble what I took off. All listings for a non-hydroboost system give me this hose...
Yes, your trouble is in the bottom of the column. I had the same trouble with mine shortly after I bought it.Truck refused to go into park or if it did it would pop back out. I bought the MLPs but it was not the problem. I picked up a junk yard column to swap only to find two star head bolts at...
Just to provide a follow up;I did run injector buzz test and cylinder contribution and all passed. Oil pressure was holding nicely, even after a good warm up. I replaced the lift pump as well as all associated fuel hoses. While the fuel filter housing was off the truck, I cleaned the regulator...
I parked my truck in the garage the other day and when I went out the next day I had a nice diesel puddle under the front end. It appears the fuel line connections are leaking at the front frame rail? Is this a common failure? Is there an o-ring in the joint that I need to replace ? Will the...
Thanks for the reply. Without admiting to any lawbreaking I can tell you there is no cat on the truck. The stock muffler was replaced with an aero turbine about 5 years ago. It is my understanding that due to their no baffle design, they wont plug up.
As a follow up I used a Snap-On scanner to run diagnostics. I found that injector buzz test and cylinder contribution passed. Only codes retrieved were P0476 which I understand is probably due to clogged line to exhaust manifold. I did observe exhaust back pressure at 32psi at idle and as much...
No, other than the idle value the pressures where taken in drive while moving. Yes, i do have.a mechanical fuel pump. It appears that someone "let the cat out" so that is not an issue.
Ok, I got my fuel pressure gauge installed today after work and I did a couple of tests. At idle, I am looking at about 55-60. Moderate acceleration will drop that to 48-50. Heavy acceleration (no load) and I can drop that pressure to 39-40. I do not have a loaded trailer at the moment to test...
I will look into locating a fuel pressure tester so I can get some readings. Is there a good fuel pressure gauge (electric) that doesnt cost $200 that people have had good luck with ? I do not have any aftermarket gauges installed so I have no idea about EGTs or boost pressure. I would assume...
I am back again for some more help. I have been experiencing power loss towing a trailer on hills. I will start up the hill, approx half throttle at 60mph and will loose more than 15 mph on the grade. At this point any further pressing of the accelerator will make no change. I suspect some type...
Fuel leak
Ok, I managed to get about 1/8th of a turn out of the banjo bolt and stop the leak for now. If someone can tell me where they buy the washers, I will line up some replacements for the future. Once again, thanks for the help in keeping my truck on the road. ;Sweet
Fuel Leak
Ok, you guys were right on, the fuel is leaking from the pump at the banjo bolt. Is it recommended to get replacement washers or just torque it down some more ?
