    The engine I'm replacing with the outdrive weighs about 800lbs and is directly at the back of the boat. The 6.9 will probably weigh around 1200lbs in marine trim, and will be 8' forward of the transom. I suspect balance won't be a problem. As far as the boat being slow, I guess it depends...

    major power surge!!

    OK, so there is a potential of killing the engine by running out of fuel. It seems like the "roadside" repair for air in the lines would be pretty intensive. This old 6.9L has been so reliable that I haven't had a chance to get in there and mess with anything yet....I'm of course not complaining...

    I haven't ever run out of fuel before in my '86 E350 but I always thought that once you ran out, you'd have to purge the lines. Is this not the case? It sounds like you ran out, switched tanks, and were off and running again...? This would be a huge relief if it were true because my fuel gauge...

    Gentlemen, Thanks for the comments on the Camper. It is a continual project which seems to eat up all my spare time and money, but I love it, and it certainly draws a crowd wherever I go. Flatlander, I'd love to hear more about your use of the stock mechanical pump as a turbo oil scavenge...
