I just left the new car lot, I'm thinking about trading in my 2001 F-250 diesel for a new 2009 model. I asked the salesman about changing my own oil. He told me the dealer has to do it, I can't do it myself. Something about lifting the body from the engine. Is this true, or can I do it myself...
The local Ford dealer changed mine out today (per the December 2007 recall), took about 30 minutes. I'm getting ready for a cross country trip to Phoenix next week and didn't want to take any chances. I hadn't received my recall letter, but they looked up my VIN and took care of me. I also...

Tranmission service
I had my fluid and filter changed today. I watched the guy do it so I could do it myself next time. Piece of cake!!

Also, any information regarding the 2001 model transmission repairs? I've heard that was a bad year. I have 122K on mine and it runs fine (knock on wood).
We've all changed our engine oil and filter, but have you changed your transmission fluid and transmission filter yourself? How much trouble is it? Are there any online DIY guides. I have a 2001 F-250 and want to try it myself, but would like a little advice first.
Thanks.
