My truck was sucking air like crazy a few yrs back. The back tank was pulling air into the fuel system even running on the front tank. I don't drive it a bunch, so I just plumbed it direct to the front tank for now. At least that's what I thought about 2 yrs ago. Still haven't fixed it right...
My work truck started making some strange sounds. I can only say that it sounded like a very high pitched noise....almost like fingernails on chalkboard. It still ran great 36K and it's never been to the shop till now. I couldn't stand to have it puke on me in God knows where.
The Ford...
The truck was purchased from northern Illinois, but I don't know the history of it. I'll check the grounds and try some dialectric grease in the ECM connections and see what happens. Thanks
I'm on track with both of you. Here's the next question. My brother is tight on funds right now due to the previous trans problem. I told him to just bump up the idle manually with the cruise switch for now to avoid the issue while idling. Anyone see anything wrong with this for a temp. fix...
OK guys, I've been getting great info here so I'm going to keep asking.
Brothers mack (04 AC400) for those that don't know, been running real good, but today he calls and tells me that it suddenly started low idling at 500rpm. Normally he said its always been at 650-700. The other strange...
There is no wastegate on the 6 litre.
Fill in your signature so that we know exactly what kind of truck your running. It will help us help you better.
As far as I know the only way to increase boost on a stock 6.0 is with a programmer. I have no experience with intake elbow's, sorry.
I'd be suprised if you need the glowplugs if you are in florida.
Just a quick short shot of ether will do the job into the intake if it doesn't fire up.
I don't put enough miles on my IDI to justify it. I just change mine every 6 months. I'm still too chicken to run any pickup diesel over 5K for a change unless it's running lots of highway miles.
In my opinion, I wouldn't have any problem putting it in any of my vehicles (gas or diesel) with a touch of the other fuels mixed in. Not too many years back, many people around here cut diesel with gas in winter time for their own custom winter blend.
Kevin and Gary, I'm not real familar with big trucks and the specifics. Please educate me. If a truck (freight, Pete, KW, Mack, etc) has the same trans, can any dealer connect to it to read codes and program it?
Thanks guys,
Could be a reason that it's cheap? No offense to those who use it.
I work for a Lucas dealer, so I get it cheaper than most, but it's still higher than the normal el cheapo places.
I never really thought much about the difference in the brands before the Lucas rep pointed out the facts...
Oil preference always comes down to owner experience. Everyone seems to have there own favorite. I personally use Lucas magnum 15/40, but I'm sure that I'm the only one on this site that goes that route. Use what you are comfortable with.
