Yup, $500 cash and he took all my IDI stuff with him. He got a smokin' good deal and I got some room in my shed back..LOL...He was tickled pink as he had two IDI powered trucks.
BUMP: I will give a better deal on a bundle.:D...I don't need this stuff sitting in my shed forever now that I have a Powerstroke in my truck. Paypal or MO works, you will have zero issues dealing with me. I buy and sell a lot locally and online.
$150 plus shipping for the reman 7.3 injection...
Separating the EGR cooling system from the engine is a good idea. It makes trouble shooting easier and less chance of a bad cooler contaminating other systems and vice versa. DEF is the norm for just about every diesel these days, just part of the deal. I agree with you though, having to pull...
A bunch of IDI engine parts. UPDATED: prices are posted.
COD in the mail is what I'll do, I repowered my 92 F350 with a Powerstroke. I have a reman 7.3 injection pump and injectors that worked great when removed on Oct 20/13. The injectors might have 10,000km on them since I bought them from...
I work on truck diesels for a living so I see what regen has done for engine reliability and repair costs. If I could by a 6.7 cummins or 6.7 powerstroke without egr, regen or VGT turbo's I wouldn't mind having one but that's not going to happen. We managed to make good power before all that...
I love the old IDI's but even with their quirks I would take a 7.3PSD any day over an IDI. More power, not hard to work on and very durable. Now that they are old the parts have come way down in price. Having just swapped a PSD in place of the IDI in my truck I can tell you there is a big...
I have the same issue with my 92, not as severe with the 1995 Powerstroke wiring now in the truck but still there. I', going to replace the wiring from the firewall to the diff sensor and that should cure it. The sensor is new already.
I've done one in an F550 in the truck and it was a PITA, probably less work to pull the engine and definitely less aggravation. Good time to do your up-pipe gaskets, turbo pedastal o-rings, manifold bolts and gaskets if you pull the engine.
I had it out for the first test drive last night - noticeable different in power for sure. I used to have to drop to 4th gear at 100km/hr and let it scream over the hills...Sounded like a 2 stroke Detroit.......Now I can leave it in 5th and just push down on the pedal to climb the hill with...
I used some old SS cube van fuel lines and got them geared up last night. Not too far from attempting to start it, just waiting on a new reservoir to lower rad hose to come in at the parts store.
The new engine is in, EBPV has been removed and a 1998 3" van down-pipe is in place. Hooking it all up now, should be putting the "new to me" Arizona rust free rad support in tonight. Hope to make smoke by the weekend. I hooked up the hydroboost last night so as soon as it's running everything...
I drilled my 460 ZF case exactly as he described 3+ years ago, always has and still works fine. I took out the IDI and installed the new 7.3PSD last night with a 13" LUK SMF and clutch. It really wasn't that hard I just sat down on the trucks crossmember and had at it, ten minutes later she was...
Working on the dash removal for the harness swap now. I also have to mod the brake pedal pin for the hydroboost...I tried to replace the 92 A/C evaporator core with the one from the 95 donor but the 95 core was bigger....So I ordered a new one from rock auto this morning.
The hose itself retails for about $130 but you can make it up cheaper at a hydraulic shop. Nice for testing no starts and etc. put a fitting in the oil rail in the head and you can see the pressure
