So what did you do with your truck today?

Using it for what I got it for!

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

The front u joint on the rear drive shaft ran out of needle bearings! I replaced it and we are all good now. I thought I felt a small new vibration. Speedi sleeve was delayed in shipping.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

It will be ok, what is too bad is the 97 OBS that we have. It’s clean but it just needs so many things before it’s useable and I wanted it to be my summer driver with AC

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Axle seal is bad again due to this giant scuff. I already ordered a Speedi sleeve. But my new breaks will have to wait.

    Steering gearbox

Redhead steering gears are excellent that is what I use.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I was picking up supplies at the hard ware store and when I came out I saw a big puddle of mystery fluid under the truck, turns out that worm drive lower rad hose clamp that was new but felt “spooky” when I installed it recently let go. Had a spare in the truck and was in the road in a few minutes.

You do not torque the injectors, you guess I called Justin about that. And they are easiest to instal on an engine stand although very doable in the truck.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Yes you mostly certainly do have to remove them. I think I could machine Justin’s rails to clear the valve cover bolts but I didn’t want to cut into my brand new expensive product.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

That was my thought as well, but that means pulling my r and d rails which is a pain in the neck.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

In past vehicles (Nissan pickups) I have had to “re-torque” the head bolts after doing a headgasket. I assume that is not needed on my now studded 6.9 IDI?

So what did you do with your truck today?

Old tractors are extremely valuable due to the emissions systems in new tractors.

So what did you do with your truck today?

@Old Goat they are pear trees.

So what did you do with your truck today?

The shop tractor went down yesterday so the 6.9 IDI became the shop tractor. Used it to move customers trailers around and I used the giant “chin” bumper to push the tractor in so I could change the fuel pump. Pushed the tractor up a hill no problem and I didn’t even have to push the accelerator...

    Hard start, not fuel return[?]

I think it often costs more to mess around with all the other things than to just go for the CDD kit and 8 new motocraft plugs. Solves the problem immediately and for good, plus it is not frustrating.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I agree old goat has a good point and I have no problem moving it to the back and I would happily do so it’s just that I can’t even hear it where it is. Although I think my engine noise is worse than most due to the state of the truck and lack of even factory level sound deadening.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I do not have a soot problem and I still can’t hear it over the sound of the engine and my wheels are black. At 3k rpm full throttle letting her eat in the top of third I can hear a bit of an exhaust note with all the windows open and I have no droning at all.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Installed my new muffler, I don’t have the exit height dialed in yet I will work on that when I do the front half.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

That’s right and yup it is hot! We have over a 100 degree summer to winter temp differential sometimes.

    Parts becoming obsolete

I just build things to solve the problem, as a full time fabricator machinist it isn’t a huge ordeal usually.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Yeah it has dealer AC and somebody threw away half the components so I have to buy new, our summers are 110 F in the shade and I’ve never had AC so I should get around to that at some point.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I finally got around to putting on some new front brakes, the old ones worked but they were OLD and warped so I replaced just for safety purposes.
  22. captain720

So what did you do with your truck today?

More giant brackets for solid wood beams (22 in by 22 in solid heavy Timbers if I remember right).
  23. captain720

Another lift pump lets me down.

Wow that would be awesome, it looks like the price would be awe inspiring as well.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I forgot to install the dipstick tube holder and I didn’t want it to vibrate and crack but I can not install it after the R and D idi return rails because there isn’t enough room, so rather than pull my injectors I just made a new dipstick tube holder that mounts a little lower. I wrapped...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I can tell my exhaust muffler is getting clogged (cheap glass pack before I new better) so now I am ordering a new system, I think I will go four inch and use this for a muffler. https://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/flo-pro-twister-mufflers/
