Typically just try to follow whatever spec for the axle. Think Dana 50 states to rotate during tightening and the mk4 vw has a 180* rotation - this trailer just listed a torque spec. I used the red n tacky grease and rotated a bit during tightening.
The castle nut doesn’t allow for much...
Put together a new harbor freight trailer and am getting wheel bearing temps around 200-210f after going about 15 mins on the freeway - both empty and with like 400#. Outside temps were cool like 45f
does this sound a little hot? Retorked to ~85 ft/lbs as stated in specs and added more grease...
Had a bit of sporadic no start issues yhe past couple days but just turned out to be a loose ignition switch… bolts mustve lossened up a bit since servicing the clutch bracket recently.
Its really good to start with "did any of these parts get touched recently" when beginning any...
Getting the Mityvac brake bleeder from HF and hope it’ll last more than one bleed. For transfer pumps and bleeder tools anyone have a good way of cleaning out the fluid after use?
Putting here since gotta bleed the IDI again
Assuming isopropyl would work fine but not sure if there are any...
The whole dash looks so clean!
Do you wear polarized glasses ever? Always trips me out a bit to scratch my head or something and turn a bit and have a screen disappear all of a sudden
Before getting the idi had a ‘92 Nissan hardbody for a few years. Love those trucks but it kept getting stolen, and luckily recovered.
The second time it was stolen it was left parked facing down a hill with the front passenger wheel chocked against a curb. They cut the fuel line going to the...
would checking compression help narrow down things? Honest question, seems the compression would be low if a valve isn’t closing fully.
Reminds me of the 50/50-90 rule: If you have a 50/50 chance at something you’ll get it wrong 90% of the time. So maybe it’s worth pulling the other valve...
Have seen a similar thing on a 2cyl Volvo diesel, OHV. The difference is the Volvo has a decompression lever that “lifts” the valves or something, when starting the engine with the valves lifted sometimes some exhaust gas will release out the air intake.
my first instinct would be to check the...
Yessir we good now. The ignition linkage wasn’t seated into the switch properly and was hotdog down a hallway.
We got strrrrt now gotta clean chit and go burn some oil
Seems a lotta guys run a manual go switch which seems like a good idea
Everything seems to be good pedal and electrical wise. Went to bump the starter to check that but they key just turns past the “start” position and the starter doesn’t engage at all.
The key motion actuates the rod on top of the steering column but it’s like the “start” position doesn’t get...
Not an expert but seems the root cause is bushing failure for the two outermost joints. There’s only half left of each and both bores are spanked.
To make things go quicker decided to punt the reinforcement bracket to a future date depending on how things go with the new bracket.
Happened to...
