The plastic sleeve is important for closing the door. Easy fix. Lots of parts stores have replacement sleeves.

    Manual Transmission Oil Cooler

I'll post temperatures. So far on a 90 deg F day at 60 mph, no trailer, flat ground, 5 mile distance, I'm reading 150 deg transmission temp. Turning on the pump did not change the temperature, but I may not have left it on long enough.

    Manual Transmission Oil Cooler

Ok, here are the connections to the transmission. I installed the temperature sensor in a 1/8" pipe thread port in the cover. I checked for clearance with a probe(screwdriver) before installing. I did not disturb the hose barb fittings. Plan is to tow a 6800 lb travel trailer.

    AC replacement

Personally, I am willing to spend the money for a new, easily serviced, reliable ac system. If I had 2 12 oz cans of R12, I'd swap or sell them and change to a new R134. I think the chances of a 30+ year old R12 system working are very small.

    AC replacement

RockAuto has both styles of accumulator/dryer for my 1988. Factory ac uses an accumulator, GPD 411339 for example, dealership install ac uses a reciever/dryer, like the 4 Seasons 33483. I have the factory ac. I have not installed the new accumulator, so I don't know if it will fit.

    AC replacement

Nero- from what I have seen, converting to 134 from R12, decrease the charge to about 75%. That is very close to your 2.7 lbs.

    AC replacement

David85- Went with Sanden for availability. Displacement per revolution is about 10%:less than the FS6. The Sanden pulley is 1" smaller. Higher compressor RPM makes up the difference. I'm putting in all new parts. Condenser, hoses, evaporator, orifice tube, accumulator, everything.

That's what I thought. Does anyone know the function of the part between the condenser outlet and the high pressure hose to the evaporator?

    AC replacement

I'm replacing the factory air-conditioning in Clifford (1988 XLT) Truck still had a non functional original R12 system, appeared to be unconverted, no evidence of R134. The belt for the compressor was missing when I bought the truck. Otherwise the system was intact. There was a tiny bit of...

    Hard start after cooling off

Turn out it was air intrusion. Put clear hose on Filter head to #1 injector return line and had an air leak. Also put clear hose on the Injection pump return line an found a leak there. Truck on starts after sitting for 2-3 hours.

    It's alive

Superdave, I think I have the same '150 deg peg the gauge' symptom. Was it a bad dash gauge or bad sender?

    Hard start after cooling off

OK, Checked the glow plugs. all 8 read 1.2-1.5 ohms. Tightened the "Olives" on the hard lines. After a short test drive the Diesel smell is much less. Tomorrow i'll try a cooldown test. Too late tonight.

    Hard start after cooling off

1988 7.3 IDI, 1st gen Banks, manual transmission. Electric lift pump. Truck is slightly hard to start when cold. Usually takes 2 sessions with manual glow plug at 10-12 sec 1st time then 4-5 the second time. I'll see white smoke out the tail pipe when cranking. I've replaced all of the...

    Manual Transmission Oil Cooler

It is a dedicated manual transmission cooler. The installation looks factory and if it's after market, it's very well done. Port in each PTO cover, rubber lines to what could be an electric pump on the top side of the cross member, driver side. Steel lines from the cross member/frame rail...
