    Throttle cable melting

just a thought from a different direction, the glow plug controller is not trying to use the throttle cable as a ground wire is it? don't know if the throttle cable is melted locally or throughout.

Drive shaft spins, truck doesn't move

that axle looks very dry! even a short drive should have given some lubrication to that axle. Do you have any idea how low the oil was?

    Actually retrieving WMO

I can't remember how many passes I was doing. I think I was letting the fuge run with 40 gal or so for 6-8 hrs. That is the other side of the issue, a single pass with an inline heater seems much more efficient. It as not a huge problem but running the PA fuge is not quite at all. My pickup is...

    Actually retrieving WMO

I don't think that I am getting the oil clean enough running multiple passes on the biodiesel fuge. With my set up it is sitting on top of a 55 gal barrel and I have the pump circulating oil through for hours but don't think all the oil is running through it multiple times like needed. That, and...

    Actually retrieving WMO

Awesome thanks, so my 3/4 half ton 10.25 axles and drums can fit the bill. I was thinking about it. I could even use the surface where the axle seal rides again for protecting the motor.

    Actually retrieving WMO

yeah, I have been seeing that float around in some other online groups. I don't have any torque converters but I do have extra axles and brake drums lying around. they are also rated to spin at 3750 RPM no problem. I thought about cutting an axle housing off so I could use the wheel bearing. I...

    Actually retrieving WMO

thanks for sharing, I am running a pressure fuge from PA Biodiesel but want to go to a single pass set up like you have. Can you give me some general idea of how large the rotor is in diameter and height? I am thinking about using a modified drum brake on a cut off axle shaft to make the rotor...

Getting harder to start. Slow cranks then faster cranks.

Great pictures, I installed the same starter on my boys truck. It made it really easy that the engine was hanging from a chain LOL Here is to hoping that now his engine is back in his starter has a looooonnnnngggg life and we don't have to deal with removing it out while in the truck!

Tire dismounting and mounting by hand, IDIBRONCO style

shuffles feet, I will admit, that guy could have been me when I first started trying. I had a perfect round burn scorch on my thumb the size of a tire valve for a little while trying to keep the pressure in.........LOL Yep 37$ for one tire! And I took the old tire! Apparently since I did not...

Bad sound on a fresh rebuild (video)

I didn't realize it had so little run time on it. Not the same but when I rebuilt the top end of my Jetta it took longer than that for the lifters to refill and quiet down. I was starting to get really concerned but eventually it cleared and ran another 200k+ miles before retiring at 343K.

Tire dismounting and mounting by hand, IDIBRONCO style

the big thing I have found with the either trick is that you still need to get the air chuck on quickly. Once that tire stops bouncing and did blow out out like taco night the fire will consume all the oxygen inside the tire. If you don't go bravely chasing that tire with an air chuck the air...

Poll: Sleeved and Non-Sleeved IDI Engines

Something else to think about, not all sleeves are created equal. I have heard horror stories of sleeves dropping out of the cylinder and totaling the engine. If an engine needs to be sleeved it should have a lip on top so that it cannot fail by falling down.

Bad sound on a fresh rebuild (video)

that sucks, a compression or leakdown test might help you narrow it down. I agree with what was mentioned above, it sounds really healthy overall but like it is leaking compression into the intake somehow.

DT 360 swap - the planning stages

I don't think those HP numbers mean much anymore when you fiddle with the injection pump and turbo. I think my DT360 was only rated for 180 out of the factory.

Ex Wife- my LONG term build

that is pretty good, I actually enjoy changing tires when they break off the rim ok. It is when the tires bond to the rim that it starts really turning into work with a sledge and running them over to break the bead!

DT 360 swap - the planning stages

Looks like a 466 from the pic. The valve cover has a dimpled rib in it from what I can tell. The 360's had raised ribs on the valve cover. The 466 is still a swap option on the Superduty generation where they have more room under the hood. There are also a couple of 360 builds including mine...

Don't worry Nick, the 5 ft long dipstick tube wont let me forget! LOL I was planning on pulling his headers, oil cooler, fuel filter brackets and such to swap them over. This injection pump still have the VRV valve on the side automatic guys want.

So what did you do with your truck today?

We started on the engine swap in my sons truck. I am glad the extra IDI engine I have been storing in my garage actually fired right up and ran well after sitting 10 plus years. I just had to remember to give the injection pump solenoid 12v........just took a couple of hours of practice starting...
