FOr those wondering about the Scotseal XL plus for the rear hub seals on the 10.25...

I understand this is an old thread. Hope it is OK that I'm bringing it back. My 1990 10.25" came to me with the oil slinger set-up. I am replacing the seal with the Scotseal Plus XL. Do I reuse, or omit, the slinger with the new seal? Roy

5.9 randomly loses power and shuts off

I agree..."randomly shut off" sounds like an intermittent FSS issue. I have, on occasion, wired in a temporary indicator light. I pick up the power right at the FSS and have the light in the cab. The light is wired to glow whenever +12v is present at the FSS. Roy

    Somebody better buy this truck!

Gee. If anyone does go look...you'll post some frame, floor, mount pics, right? Assuming you don't drive away with it. What were the factory diff gear ratio options in these Diesel 4-speed trucks?

    Cheapest oil I have found

Walmart Super Tech Heavy Duty SAE 15W-40 Motor Oil, 2 Gallons....$20 for two gallons. At Walmart, I spring for Delo at less than $12 per gallon.

    Diesel to gasser

Around here running IDIs are super cheap. I had one for sale and it took about two years to sell it...140k and running well...ended up getting something like 400 bucks for it. I would find an IDI for it...or, just sell it to someone wanting to drop one Diesel or another into it.

    Best Donor truck

BTW, that 4-speed gas transmission will need a Diesel-pattern bell housing...even if you do decide a non-OD transmission is the way to go. You would also want really tall gears (1:3.3 or taller). Roy

    Best Donor truck

Many will want the front Dana 60 which came in most years F350s. And, an overdrive transmission. You will also need to be concerned about the gear ratio of your incoming axles...reasonable ratios are related to which transmission and tires you use. Hard to find transfer case? Roy

    Cab swap

Not stupid. People have done way stranger things. I bet you will need to fab some cab and bed mounts...but, maybe someone will come along with first hand knowledge. Can you get the two trucks, side by side? Would be easy enough to measure where the mounts are, and where they need to be. Roy

Moog leaf spring bushing, '90 F350

Right. Ford calls for 120 to 150 ft #.

Moog leaf spring bushing, '90 F350

Interesting. I tell you what, however, that 9/16" bolt in the new bushing just "feels" way loose.

Moog leaf spring bushing, '90 F350

I bought Moog SB349 bushings for the front leaf springs. I was thinking they'd take 9/16" bolts (.567"). But the ID of the bushings is .581" which means I'd have .0185" of slop between the bushing and the new bolt. That seems like too much. The OEM bushings were about ID = .552" and the bolt...

What capacity are those OEM plastic side tanks? Roy

No...I had not seen that. Thanks. Downloaded that nice D60 manual.

Dana 60 front spindle seal question

Thanks. Yes, that thread has great pics. I am starting to believe there may be an old-style and newer seal...and, the PO threw both of them in on the passenger side. Yes, I know that makes very little sense. Roy

Dana 60 front spindle seal question

1990 F350. When I took my axle apart, only the passenger side had the rubber seal which slips into the spindle right up against the needle bearing. I am not talking about seal #59 620062 which is a seal which slips on the axle shaft. OK, that's odd...only finding the seal on one side. Here...
