@greenskeeper ever heard of high voltage causing issues? My voltmeter reads pretty high but haven’t confirmed it with a fluke or Forscan after running it what the reading is. When I’m cruising on the highway, it reads almost on the higher red line. Could be the voltage regular going out and...
Things still blowing my mind. I’m gonna pick up another chip with a standard ts tune instead of the Swamps tune and see how it does. It runs fine for hours without the chip. The strange part is that even on the stock position it has died before. I pulled the computer and recleaned the board...
So I decided to try my chip again today just for shits and giggles. Ran fine and super strong for about 45 minutes. It cut off in the driveway and started right back up. Died again at the gas station around the corner. Immediately pulled the chip and the chip, cable and computer is fairly warm...
That’s awesome to see guys. @FrozenMerc ive seen those pumps, similar to the Bosch MW pumps, they have been done before.
@IDIoit i loving that idea. I hope you finish it. I think everyone is wanting to see an off the wall build.
Anyone snapped a leaf spring at the wrap? Happened to me today while I was installing a rear shackle flip kit. Looks like new springs are gonna be going in
@hacked89 im also looking into what it would cost to get some custom rods machined. The main caps are good with a girdle and the crank shouldn’t have any issues. This will require rebalancing more sure. I’m really trying to build a beat without doing a powerstroke build.
@1mouse3 thanks for that. I’m saving for a 190cc pump from @Thewespaul currently. I had read an article of a sled truck with a PSD base converted to a mechanical P-pump with IDI style injectors. I think they were using a Bosch pump that is inline 8 instead of the 3208 pump that is shaped like...
Anyone put a P-pump from a cat 3208 on their IDI? It’s and 11.6L engine rated for around 210 depending on the factory setup. The cc per injection has to be much larger than a DB2. Downside is that even if someone has done it, it would require a custom intake and very little room for a turbo if...
So Project F-100 Super Duty is underway with new axles and suspension. Now comes the most meticulous part.
Building the engine
The most difficult decision is the turbo(s). I remember having a short conversation with @Thewespaul but something didn’t seem to stick. The advantages of parallel...
The 89 F-47 i have only has 86k original miles so I've been lucky with it over the years having good synchros. Somehow the donor for the F-100 is also super tight with no slop. The only issue i have had to deal with was a failed slave cylinder. 1st gear is always preferred on flat or steeper...
So a big step was taken for the F-100 today. Some major parts came in from @Thewespaul and his store including head gaskets and comp cams valve springs. Luckily parts are rolling in from LMC truck to get the body back together and interior done. Finally, all my suspension parts from Sky’s...
@greenskeeper
I’ve been running a TS 6 position with a swamps tuning I bought from the diesel shop here in Norfolk. I need to pull my computer and see if I need to repair the contact pads on the computer board.
So looks like my chip is the issue. Took a lot of driving and testing to prove it. Not sure if it’s the connection at the computer or if it’s the chip it’s self. Really want the chip but not excited to buy another.
I appreciate the info @greenskeeper . I can’t get the truck to die when the scanner is hooked up. It’s the weekend now so I can spend some more time driving with the scanner logging everything.
Well it’s not fixed. Truck died pulling into the parking lot on the base I’m stationed at. I’m convinced it’s a fuel issue. Doesn’t make sense unless I’ve got a leak that can’t be found but I’m ordering a fuel pump and filter kit for the frame rail. What’s the best in everyone’s opinion? And...
Decided to replace the fuel filter again due to the Autozone brand one literally flexing due to the shitty cap design. Also took some advice from some guys back home and replaced the CPS. The wife and I went on a two truck drive and we drove the hell out of the PSD. No issues at all. Think it...
It also threw a code for P0603 (KAPWR interrupt) stating that power was interrupted to the computer. It says if the battery was disconnected recently, don’t worry. Very possible that it’s a fluke due to me undoing the battery previously. Truck is currently running and I’m waiting for it to...
So my connector is In and my laptop is hooked up. This is the readings in getting. All other tests passed. Don’t mind the ECT. I think it reads it backwards for some reason. It is tracking with the the gauge though. This is at idle by the way.
Note to all by the way. 99% of scan tools will not read a 95 PSD due to federal law not requiring OBD II until 1996 and very few manufacturers starting it early. Ford is one that started in 95 with the PSD’s
It starts back up within 30 seconds. After some thinking, it more seems like an electrical component is getting too hot due to an internal failure. It cools after 30 seconds or so and then runs for a minute or two then shuts down. After sitting for a bit while I’m in the office, it fully cools...
Alright. This isn’t good. Truck is still acting up. It’s only when the truck is fully warmed up and has run for about 15-20 miles or more. It acts like it’s running out of fuel. The key switch was bad for sure but not the culprit of this issue. Now to pull my chip to see if that’s causing the...
