    Howdy aka Ratfink

Depending on the election, bug out might mean 3/4" plywood over the side windows (rolled down of course) and 1/2" LEXAN over the windshield. They can't drag you out without unlocking the doors!! Be safe.

    Traded in 1991 F250

Nice looking truck but LOL their ad does not even say "diesel". At least some looking for clean PU will not be aware Ford 7.3 is diesel.

    In case of EMP

Seems more hidden way to prevent running is hidden NC solenoid valve in fuel return line wired to something weird (cig lighter?). Will start for couple seconds and die, over and over again. Also faster to stop runaway than going for manual shutoff. More in store for Teddy but window riot...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Measured all the windows to make shutters for the upcoming "unpleasantness". Should be vandal proof in a crowd when done (pics then). Estimate about $300 including windshield.

    Brake woes

Actually, BITOD, in a galaxy far away, I remember grinding the shoes to match the reground drums, on cars. Almost no one grinds drums anymore so linings probably match stock drum diameter and need some time to wear in. Does not seem like this would cause grabbing but???

    Brake woes

Wear pattern sounds like shoes not same "diameter" as drums. Top of front shoe wears more moving forward, etc. Check by placing shoe in drum. JMTCW

    Brake woes

Check RABS Delete thread for parts from Advance Auto and hose from Amazon that fit a 94 F350. Total about $20 and no pipe threads or searching thru truck graveyards. YMMV

Actually, ntimad, seller is apparently a mom.

    Changing Our Own Tires

Just a quick question/comment. Do we mostly take tire changing to a shop because it's too hard to loosen lug nuts or wrangle tire/wheel or ? If lug nuts too tight couple fixes. 1. The planetary gear torque multiplier with 1/2" drive input/17,19,21mm output with 18:1 multiplier so 10 in...

    93 E350 7.3 idi battery killer

Regardless of size, NEVER, parallel different amp hour or chemistry batteries if you want long life from them. Not done anywhere else by EV vehicles, drones, battle bots, boats, planes, off grid, etc. Even if battery connections balanced, the smaller one will charge and discharge faster with...

    Battery cables

Loads off a battery BANK, if balanced, much better than off A battery of a bank. Common distribution point ok for rest of small loads but starter current should not have to flow thru frame and engine.

    My bad, thanks.

    AIR LEAK DIAGNOSIS

Second link goes to same place as first- I READ IT. Just seems doesn't cover all the leaks and how they affect starting but oh well, wth, don't want a p99809 contest.

    AIR LEAK DIAGNOSIS

Thanks, found it on page 3 after searching for "air" Edit Reread sounded kind of sarcastic No more data will be added by me.

    7.3 return line caps

To build " on the table" it would seem even measuring each piece and sliding all the way on nipple would give different cap positions due to hose stiffness. Probably does not work perfect the first time. Others could confirm. I only plan on doing it once so do want it perfect first time...

    AIR LEAK DIAGNOSIS

Can we have a single spot where air leaks are diagnosed by starting/running behavior of IDI? I propose the following which will be edited to keep up to date. Post ones you have found/fixed. 1- Starts, after priming, and idles fine for minutes, dies seconds after gunning it in neutral to >...

    7.3 return line caps

The more we have to force tubing onto nipples the more chance of pushing/pulling on cap. Leaks result. Seal should be by clamp, not force fit. jmo

    Battery cables

If we were not having cranking/battery problems no change needed. Trying to come up with minimum change/cost for max benefit now. Changing all batt lugs to bolt on style, 7 places, stops need for new cable when stock lug rots off. Moving pass side neg batt cable to drivers bat provides...

    Battery cables

To see if you have a problem when cranking just put neg voltmeter lead on driver side NEG batt post, not terminal, and pos voltmeter lead on pass side NEG batt post and have helper crank 5 seconds or so. Will read 0 if not cranking (and nothing turned on), unless something very wrong, and...

    Battery cables

This, might, slightly improve charging only with very little cranking effect. Highest load is cranking, that should be balanced with pos and neg cables to STARTER, with smaller cables to frame ground and solenoid/alternator. Almost the only designs like our trucks are done by manufacturers...

    Battery cables

Analogy is correct. The second, battery, will charge slower and discharge less current. First will probably die sooner depending of which is more damaging, slower charge or higher current share. Small differences in measured charge/discharge battery voltage equate to large current differences...

    Battery cables

The improvement in charging is overshadowed by major improvement in battery life due to high current cranking equally supplied by both batteries. Slightly longer ground cable to starter will be larger cable (sum of circular mills of both existing neg cables). If it starts on first rev with no...

    Head bolt block thread

Thanks all, will hold off till engine pull.

    Battery cables

The difference is all current, load and charging, should enter the batteries BALANCED. Positive on one batt, neg on the other, NOT both batteries grounded separately. Impossible for both to have same charge/discharge action. Negative lead could go to one starter mount bolt for better cranking...
