    IDI Mileage

that is good information to know...i did not do this after changing my IP....it runs pretty good, I will have to check MPG, i know it is pretty bad, around 10mpg without pulling a load, but I will check what it is getting exactly at my next fuel up.

    IDI Mileage

no, i did not get it dynamically timed....i used the 7.3 manual i bought, as i recall there were 2 places I had to set the timing - i would have to look at the manual again, i can't recall exactly. this was a couple years ago, but not very many miles ago. I think the smoke is black....a bit...

    IDI Mileage

i have replaced the injectors and the injection pump - I do get blue or black smoke when I am going up grades - i was told it was normal. when driving on a flat road, no smoke. I am not using much, if any oil, so I guess that is good.

    IDI Mileage

I have a Automatic 1993 F250 7.3 IDI, approaching 219,000 miles. I have heard these diesels can go 500,000 miles....seems high to me, I guess it depends on how you maintain it. Mine is still original as far as I know (headgasket has never been replaced). What type of mileage do you have, and...

    radiator cap

has anyone used a sacrificial anode radiator cap? I found one 13psi, for a pretty reasonable price, i thought i would give it a try. has anyone used one? just wondering if they actually do anything that the package claims: -eliminates a major cause of overheating -can prevent costly engine...

    driver side door lock issue

The problem: if i use the power "L" on door to lock the doors, get out, close the door, and try to unlock the door so I can open it, the key will not turn to allow me to unlock the door. The passenger side still works, so i have to go there to unlock it. But, if I get out of the truck, use...

    adding gauges.....

IDIBRONCO or anyone else with vacuum gauges....for a non-turbo 7.3 IDI, what range of gauge should I look for? I see gauges called "boost gauges"....is this what I need? I have seen 0-15, 0-30, and 0-60 for sale (psi). I can't find the article, but a couple years back I read an article...

    adding gauges.....

i do tow sometimes, and over colorado mountain passes - wolf creek pass is a 7% grade for about 10 miles. Finding a place to put the sensor into for the auto trans would be the most difficult for me -

    adding gauges.....

what is a pyro? mine is N/A......and how difficult was it to install a vacuum gauge? do you run a 'T' off of the vacuum pump to your gauge?

    adding gauges.....

onetonjohn.....it is NOT a turbo and it is an automatic transmission. cubey....thanks for the suggestion, that looks like an affordable mechanical gauge that I will most likely buy.

    adding gauges.....

maybe I will start with a temp gauge (assuming mechanical does not have to be tied into electrical system?) - it has been fluctuating between 1/4 up to over 3/4 up, depending on if i'm going up a hill or not.....so i would really like to see what the real temperature is reading.....

    adding gauges.....

does anyone have advice on what gauges to add? I personally would like to know the water temperature and maybe trans and exhaust temps? is it fairly straightforward to add gauges? do they come with instructions specific to our 7.3 IDI? I just have the gauges that came out of the factory, and...

torque spec for water pump pulley bolts

Hi, I have a 93 7.3L IDI (F250) and i am in the process of installing a new water pump. My repair manual shows the torque spec for the water pump bolts, and the elbow. My manual says to torque the pulley bolts to the standard torque. So, I found an area with standard torques based upon...
