Yeah it runs great I love the truck! Did I get screwed at $1800 though? Under the truck is pretty rusty, it was an Alaska truck originally before an Idaho truck. I'm just concerned about the leaks and the small vibration of the tranny at times. Completely new to fords and diesels. I've only...
I know they are separate from each other. I was just also stating that I find it weird that my temp gauge doesnt work even after driving for a bit in pretty warm weather.
Well my temp gauge doesn't work I dont think. It stays just right above the c even after 20 or 30 minutes of driving in 75 degree weather. And I knew how yo set the high idle but I've done that and it idles normally. I pulled a code 13 from the computer which is a low idle code. Maybe theres...
Engine was replaced at 70k with a new engine from the dealer. Truck has had 72k miles since then. Previous engine was replaced due to cavitation. Owner had all the paperwork from him and the previous two owners.
Oh okay. Nah I used to have a Chevy with a 6.5 Detroit but it didnt seem to vibrate as much I guess. Was wondering if that's maybe just how these IDIs run. I'm not sure if I got screwed on the deal or not. Paid $1800 for the truck. The inside is in great shape, outside has some rust and...
Okay but what is causing the engine vibration? I'm I suppose to be able to feel the engine running? It's pretty noticeable. Doesnt vibrate the entire truck but its noticeable enough that you can feel it.
So I'm new to these trucks. At idle, I can feel the engine running like vibrating almost. Seems to mostly be when it's in drive. Is this normal? Like is this just how these old diesel trucks are? When I have it in park and have the hood open, the engine isnt moving and it runs and idles...
So I'm supposed to make the two hour trip to Baker City this weekend to pickup a 95 F350 Crewcab Dually Powerstroke. Truck is a 5 speed and has 270,000 miles. The inside is clean and in very good shape, the outside of the truck is fair. I have not seen the truck in person but my friend who...
Okay. I know they make turbo kits for these and I plan on doing a turbo install. Would the transmission be able to hold up to the turbo though or would I need to add a shift kit or something? I am slightly worried about the transmission. It did kinda hardshift once or twice. I'm pretty sure...
Thanks for the info! All the oil just concerns me. And the temp gauge not going up very high after 30 minutes and having the radiator be super hot. The original motor being replaced under warranty at 70k miles due to cavitation also concerns me for this motor. It's got about 72k on it. If I...
No there was no smoke out the exhaust nor any white smoke upon starting. If I have to do the front and rear main seals and the oil pan gasket, would that require me to pull the engine? He easy would it be to put a turbo kit on this too?
Saw a 91 F250 7.3 N/A IDI on craigslist and just got back from looking at it. Guy had it at $3500 for awhile but dropped the price to $2500. Ac doesnt work, no blowby, second engine. Original owner had the engine replaced under warranty at 70k miles and transmission at 85k miles...
Has a 5th wheel tailgate. He said he didnt even care if it ran or drove he just wanted it gone. I'm just worried about the tranny. And the dually is probably a better choice
Okay thanks guys. Also came across a 96 powerstroke yesterday for $1750. Has 166k original miles! Dude had no idea what he had. The truck was his grandpas and his grandpa is getting really sick and had to be put in a home so they are selling the estate. Truck has bee sitting several years...
It's also leaking oil from the oil pan and what looks like the rear main. Trans pan is covered in fluid as well but I checked the transmission fluid and oil and both look good and not concerning. Coolant looks good too.

Found this one on craigslist locally. Seems like an even better deal than my cousins truck and it's a dually. Guys owned it for years and has always kept up on the maintenance on it and made sure it was in good working order. He told me he relied on it to make money because it was his work...
The thing that concerns me most is the blowby and the coolant. The truck gas 245,000 miles on it. Pretty high mileage granted it is a diesel. Just dont wanna have to drive the truck back and then rebuild or drop in a new engine shortly after.
I know I'm gonna have to fix it up for a bit to get it running good. I was just planning on fixing the clutch and driving it home and parking it until I could fix it more which wouldnt be too long. I know for a fact that the starting issue is probably the glowplugs and the glowplug relay. If...
My cousin also told me that the previous owner used starting fluid to start the truck on cold mornings when it wouldnt start. I know it's never a good idea to use ether on a diesel as it can warp the heads (or so I've been told). Should I be worried about this? The truck doesnt overheat. I'm...
