Sorry it took so long to reply I had some had a lot things going on and truck went on the back burner. So I pulled the valve covers removed the rocker arms and low and behold it’s a broken exhaust valve. I guess it didn’t take much of turning the crank back and forth to snap it off. So I sent to...
I’m really thinking about doing a DT360 swap on this truck and just redoing everything. I’m just not sure if what’s involved in swapping out the 6.9 for the DT360. I just figured if I’m going to take the dash out why not just change out everything. When I got the truck that was the original plan...
franklin2 I found a complete harness out of an 84 I got the complete harness that runs from the fuse block and through the fire wall. Past there some of it was butchered and I couldn’t tell what went where but the wires that run under the dash are in good shape where mine burned all under the...
Thanks for the info on that harness off eBay I believe I’ll be purchasing one. Do have experience with this particular harness? If so was it pretty straight forward to install?
Cedricward I agree you just can’t find a harness for an ‘86. I did find a scrap yard with an ‘87 but I wasn’t sure if it would work. I will buy the manual you mentioned and see if I can’t build it myself. Thanks for your help.
Hello everyone I’m trying to locate a wiring harness for my 86 f250 6.9 idi. The wire going from the FSS on the injection pump burned all the way through the harness in the firewall under the dash all the way to the drivers side of the truck. I wired a manual switch for the FSS truck now starts...
Thanks Danielle. The has never been tampered with but it started at the fuel shut off red wire and burned all the way to the harness under the dash. Just can’t figure why it burned at the injection pump. I’m not very good with automotive wiring that’s something that I need to learn.
Hello all I need help figuring out what caused my 86 f250’s wiring harness to burn. Looks like it sarted from the red wire on top of the injection pump and burned like a fuse all the way under the dash. I now have no lights or any power. Thanks for your time and help. Possible link to find new...
Thanks 79jasper. Sorry to ask so many questions but I have to ask one more. So all the rocker arms are attached to the rocker shaft, when you bolt it back in place will it bind being that the push rods are in different positions? Or do you just start tightening the bolts evenly again first time...
One thing I forgot to ask. Do the rocker arm's have to be removed or can they remain in place?just wandered since I may be tapping with the brass hammer to free up the possible stuck valve.
Hopefully I didn't damage the valve while I was working the crank with the breaker bar. Didn't didn't torque on very hard but it did hit a few times spinning the crank.
Thanks a lot for the info. I'll try to tackle this project Saturday keeping fingers crossed. By the way my truck is a m1028 cucv ex military my old woods truck. Looking to get back to the woods and off-road trails. Thanks to everyone for helping me out. I'll update when I figure out what's going on.
I'll try it if valves are the case. So I know I'm looking for a rocker arm that is probably kind of loose. Where about do you hit with the hammer? Never done this before. I really appreciate the knowledge. Probably won't be able to get to this until Saturday due to working eager to see what I...
All gp's looked perfect. I can turn it almost a complete rotation. Truck ran perfectly till the IP crapped out. Could it be a stuck valve from sitting so long? If so how can I tell and how do you fee it up? Thanks to all for the help.
