Manual glow plug button good temp fix?
I will speak out against moving the glow plugs ground to the ground for the relay and letting your pushbutton supply ground. You'll end up introducing a bunch of resistance and your pushbutton will arc and fail and you'll be pulling a bunch of amperage through the wrong wiring. The glowplugs...- sgallaty

Yes. When I finally pull off my RV batteries, there is zero rust and corrosion on any of the wire terminals so long as I've maintained a good coating. I don't slather it, but I make sure everything has a good film on it. Also in response to the OP - borrow an amp tester from autozone if you...- sgallaty

I strongly prefer marine connections on batteries. I got into the habit on my RV, and have never looked back. For regular batteries you can crimp marine ends onto your cables, and then make a good clean snug connection with a marine terminal adapter using dielectric grease (think vaseline) on...- sgallaty

So what did you do with your truck today?
This is my 2wd 1992 van - but with the help of the wife replaced orings with viton from mcmaster/carr, replaced return lines with clear tubing, and clamped everything. She's oil-tight now. Wow ok holy smokes. So I found something I've been after for a while now - a koenig toolbox truck bed on an old f350/f450 frame. My goal was to have a nice big toolbox trailer, mount an air tank and propane tank, load tools on it, build a gasoline powered air compressor head - etc. and so...- sgallaty

WHAT TO DO TO MAKE 7.3 IDI RELIABLE
Hm I have to think about this. Is my 7.3 "reliable" ? In a way I guess I am more of an engineer and a pilot than I am a passenger waiting for a dummy light to go on. If his idea of reliable is neglect it until something stops working, don't bother. You'll get another 25k out of an engine...- sgallaty

Serpentine belt tensioner

well gravity bleeding can work but you need to fill the hose with fluid first. it's possible for air to get in while fluid comes out, just like pouring milk out of a jug. I bled the RABS - had forgotten all about that. I've got a little bit of MC slip now, but the brakes are good and...- sgallaty

Bear with me, please...I'm new to this!
My very first work on a diesel engine resulted in my breaking a glow plug into a cylinder. I use the engine for parts, never did manage to get that thing out. I trust this will go better for you. Also if noone else mentioned it - the cheap return kits have flimsy collars that flex too much...- sgallaty
