    7.3 vs 12 valve

:rotflmao If I had the time and cash I'd do a swap. But those are two things after buying a truck I won't have...at least not right away.

    7.3 vs 12 valve

So here it is plain and simple. What is preffered? I am looking for a new pickup and have decided between a 12 valve cummins, 1st or 2nd gen, or an obs 7.3. I know that the 12 valve would be cheaper parts wise, but then you have crappy things like the 2nd gen front ends....which cost a bit to...

    Cost of 12 valve

No not the vp44, i looked up p1700 injection pump on Google, and the cheapest result I saw was $1,225 for an Industrial Injection. I know how you drive is a huge factor in problems. Most of the trucks I have looked get about anywhere from 10 to 15 miles to the gallon, (gasoline). I like the old...

    V10 MPG??

An expedition? Was it an engine swap? I didn't think the expeditions came with a v10? Do you possibly mean excursion?

Dodge ram v10's good or bad?

Ok. My dad had a 5.9 mag and it was a great motor...just sucked on gas. I was just curious how much worse the v10 was.

Dodge ram v10's good or bad?

:dunno I have looked at some 2nd gen ram 2500's. I would love to have a diesel, but that is money I don't have . I have looked at some 5.9 mags and the v10's. Anyways how good are the v10's? I know gas mileage would suck, but are the parts expensive and is the motor reliable? Should I go...

    V10 MPG??

That's what I was thinking they would get. I was wondering if they would get above 10mpg, because I know some people with dodge v10 4x4's, and that's what they get. I was wondering if the ford got a little better since the displacement is quite a bit smaller, (6.8l vs 8.0l).

    Cost of 12 valve

I have been looking at some 2nd gen 12 valves. I was doing some research and looked up costs of parts for these. The p1700 and injectors seem to be some of the most expensive parts. Most of the work would be done myself. My question is, what are the chances of these things going out? My dad had...

    V10 MPG??

So what is the average mpg to for a 4x4 v10 crew cab? I know they are some of the more stout gassers. I have seen a few with 325k+ miles on them. What is everyone's opinion on them? Do you like them better than a similar truck with a 5.4?

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

Ok. I may look for a 6.5, or a k20 with a 6.2, or even an m1008 if I can find one. The only problem with the m1008 is it has no ac, and summers can get pretty hot.

    Ok I will do that!

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

I've looked at the m1008's. Aren't they geared really high though? As far as the suburban goes I defiantly like them. They look really good lifted, but that's not the most important thing I guess.

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

Thank you sir, I would love a psd or cummins, but I feel like those would be out of the question financially. I would really like one though. I have looked at the old ford idi's, but I think I've only found one 6.9 and it was beat up. I have found a lot of 7.3's but I was leaning towards the 6.5...

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

Yeah I would like a diesel, preferably a cummins, but I thought that a 6.5 in a half ton would get great mileage as compared to 14 in our old f150. Parts are cheap too.

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

I've been looking at the older ford idi's and 6.5's cause they get good fuel mileage and are cheap as heck to fix. I do have a need for a truck. I won't tow anything to heavy, but to big for a Tacoma. I'm was leaning on the 6.5's cause of the ability to get tunes for it. My parents will pay for...

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

We actually had a 84 f150 with the straight 6 in it, one of the best motors ever. The body was so rough it would cost more than the truck was worth to fix it.

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

would you say a 7.3 psd would be a better bet? or stick with a 6.5?

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

6.5's power them. That's kinda what I was thinking when I was debating about buying one. The cummins is more expensive than the powerstroke? I would like a powerstroke, but like I said I'm afraid everything I would make would go into that, and I would have nothing to put back.
  19. E

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

I thought about looking for an obs 7.3 powerstroke or a 12 valve, but the 7.3 re-manufactured injectors are $185 a pop! And there's other things that cost $$. I though about a 1st gen 12 valve, but still stuff cost $$. I'm afraid if I went with one of those 2 I'd not be able to save much money...

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

What year does the electronic ds4 range from? 95 to 2000? If so probably one of those, although I did see a 93 6.5 that was in good shape. I'd probably keep looking for a 95-2000 though.
  21. E

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

Which years are best? The mechanical ones would be easier to work on, but the later electronic ones would be able to bring more power out easier.

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

I wish I could afford an obs powerstroke, or a 12 valve cummins. I might be able to, but I'm not sure I would have enough money to set back for a new vehicle. Honestly my dad has his own boat company, and they used to build diesel motors for boats. They built 6.5's. He said the only problem they...

Is a 6.5 diesel good for a young driver?

Well I get my license in a month. I originally posted in the ford threads about buying a 93 460 or a 92 7.3 idi. Both of those trucks are not good options at the moment because the 460 has 247k miles on it, and the guy who had the 7.3 took the add off craigslist before I got to him.... I...

    84 f350 crew cab mpg

Is that with driving like you have an egg under your foot?? I guess the one I was looking at would be similar... It's a 4wd but not a dually.

    84 f350 crew cab mpg

Well here it is, plain and simple. What would you say the average mpg for an 84 F350 crew cab, with a carbureted 460, and a 4 speed. Truck is at stock height and doesn't have bigger tires. It is factory 4x4.
