Fuel leaKS lift pump & filter housing

The white smoke can indicate a head or head gasket problem as can the banjo bolt not holding enough back pressure in the fuel system. Does your truck start easily or do you find that it is a little difficult after it sets for several days? Your fuel leak could be the bonded metal washer gasket...

Fuel leaKS lift pump & filter housing

I can't be positive but it sounds as if you may need have a head gasket starting to leak or possibly a cracked head. Just went through that with my 94. Another possibility may be the banjo bolt on the top inside of the injector pump, it has a spring detent inside that maintains back pressure on...

    Air Brake Compressor

I am working on a 1978 Freightliner with a Cummins engine the air brake compressor has failed and I am replacing it but have ran into a snag. The front inside bolt closest to the block is nearly inaccessible. Is there a special wrench needed to get this bolt out? Or do I need to remove the belts...

They weren't showing any signs of leaking. One of the other guys posted it as a possibility in a separate post I made and when I checked it out I did find the O rings hard and brittle. Bought the kit from NAPA and got it back on line. Thanks for your help as well

Replaced the injector return O Rings and hoses and the engine starts and runs like a top. Not a bad job too me about 3 hrs to complete and the truck seems to run a little better than before. Back at its station crew is happy they have their Type 6 back.

Thanks I will check that out this morning. I was thinking it may be something like that after a leak developed on the #2 injector after I changed the glow plug for that cyl.

    1992 F 350 Navistar 7.3 IDI

Seems I lost this post so I am trying again. I am working on a starting problem with a non turbo Navistar 7.3. I have checked glow plugs found two bad and replaced them but still have the same starting problem. The truck will run great after starting but takes several 30 second cranks to...

It appears so. Maybe you have ran across the problem I am having with a 92 F350 Navistar IDI. The engine does not like to start after sitting for awhile and doesn't have to be a cold start. It is like the fuel is bleeding off from the injector pump. Tested glow plugs yesterday found two bad...
