WMO in CRD, Test in progress - any others using WMO in CRD?

Update - so ran about 7K so far and all is good - except one small issue. I wont start worth a crap on straight W85 tip start takes 3 trys, so switched to reg diesel and problem went away instantly. Working on blending w85 with diesel and see how little I can use before starting gets bad. Also...

WMO in CRD, Test in progress - any others using WMO in CRD?

There was alot of rounding in my conversion calcs, Her majesty would be disappointed in me as I used US gallons from those ungrateful colonies :) Why would you use biodiesel for lubricity? lots of guys add some atf to their regular diesel for lubricity and we are running 85% old oil - lots of...

WMO in CRD, Test in progress - any others using WMO in CRD?

I use WMO exclusively for years now in all my mechanical diesels. Blend is 85%. Love it. In Northern Canada runs great in the winter at -40 no preheaters, same blend. In beginning had trouble due to not clean enough, plugged some injectors. invested in a bowl centrifuge and never looked back...

    New To Waste Oil

Hmm, Try again Hi all! Just thought I would put my 2 cents in so that you may all profit from my vast experience and wisdom /sarc off Ok so I have been doing this for quite a few years, started off just settling (long time - some years) & Filtering, then built a centrifuge (ran 15 minutes...

    New To Waste Oil

    Hi all,

    Sourcing WMO

I used a home hardware gear pump, coupled to a old electric motor. Try this method - not the best but works for a cheap - give it a whirl without lots of input costs. Pump is handy to have anyways. Use a 30 micron filter inline on the suction side when picking up the oil, let is settle for...

    Sourcing WMO

I just talked to some garages, as long as you have a good way of picking up - they are mostly worried about spills. I have a gear pump and 1000L tote on a trailer, they call me when they are full and away I go. You only really need 1 maybe 2 shops. Dropping off the odd case of beer helps :)...

    First small batch of WMO

interested but thinking that the shipping to canada would be a bitch. I remember the old grand nationals - so very cool back in the day. Is a beautiful one in my area always brings back memories when I see it.

    First small batch of WMO

Putting a new BDS lift on it next week - 4bt trashed the cheap springs it came with so thought I would try air bags - what a monumentally stupid idea. was beautiful on the highway but only is about 2 inches of travel - nasty on my roads. the back roads. was nice for working though - air down and...

    First small batch of WMO

I have been using WMO for a few years and really happy with it. Nothing is free though - so yes it can be a pain - but once you get all the kinks worked out it is great. First off - if you only run 10 gallons you will never go through with it. Simply because one of the most frustrating times...

    Who's running W80/W90 full time?

Total KISS theory addict here. Plus mech. I can fix. (well mostly) When you move the lever to 4wd it's in 4wd. No waiting for some solenoid motor and blinking light to tell you that it thinks it's in 4wd.

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

Thats what I love about WMO for preparedness, can stockpile cheaply, doesn't go bad, - will be the last person driving around, although bit of a lead magnet perhaps :(

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

Roadtrip http://www.ebay.com/itm/30-KW-MILITARY-GENERATOR-DIESEL-530-HOURS-PERFECT-RUNNING-CONDITION-BIO-DIESEL-/141962370684?hash=item210d9dde7c:g:koIAAOSwhcJWNoh4 Betcha it would drink straight WMO no prob, put in a hay bale shack for sound attenuation and away you go. Tad price...

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

Could setup batt/inverter and run the gen to charge. would last longer and is a system that can be built up over time. (as deals/finds are accumulated)

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

Just to make sure we are on the same page is this as a backup generator or fulltime offgrid? Backup I agree, full time you need a good head to run continuous, ebay has some pretty sweet units, the big ones are cheaper than the little ones - who wants a used 30KW 600v 6cyl diesel? some low hours...

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

You could hang one of these in place of your A/C on your truck..... 8" High x 20" long. Reuse A/C clutch/Pulley, build a bracket.... THen just hang a 110v house window AC unit in your back window if required :) Not redneck at ALL!

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

THAt HF Gen is sweet, I think we are working on different scales though. I need to power my farm my gennie is 30KW continuous vs the HF 7.3KW. I was reading the reviews and the one reviewer had hung it on the side of his lawnmower - AWESOME. I would love to tuck one of these under the hood of my...

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

A fellow prepper :) I was looking at a farm PTO powered Gennie and set up so that I can swap engines easily, Idea was just mount a PTO stub shaft on the crank of the engine and let'r rip. Keep a spare motor cummins/perkins/IDI who cares. Found that older gennies are not expensive, My buddy...

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

Just talked to my belarus guy - he's looking through his pile'o parts to see if he can find me one to play with, if not $100 from my parts guy. When I told him what I wanted it for he said some thing - powered by flow. That makes it nice and easy as 79jasper said use a power steering pump and...

    Who's running W80/W90 full time?

Truck gets up to temp no problem as my drive is longer. I am going to try some of those fatty heaters on my injectors and see if that makes a difference, preheating before the IP made no difference in performance at all so that system was pulled. Also have played with ratios 85/15gas, 80/30d2...

Centrifuge Oil Filter - from Belarus tractor (think CAT as well)

pulling the centrifuge off the block and running with an electric motor, gravity feed it in front of the IP is the plan. Trying to get an old unti that I can play with, might pull the one of my tractor to see how it is powered (gear/shaft etc) so I can decide if it can be repowered with elec easily.

    Who's running W80/W90 full time?

I run w85 Full time, use same system as you for cleaning oil minus the centrifuge. Am in northern Ontario where it gets cold -45 truck starts fine as long as it is plugged in, no glow plugs in my old cummins 4bt, no preheat of the oil. No problem. Have ether for cold starts when it isn't plugged...
