Wastegate Adjustment
Factory is supposedly set at 8psi from all that I have read, and seen. Now that I think about it more, I certainly could be wrong. Wastegate spring could be a little worn, and I have no idea exactly how accurate that 7psi measurement is. I just assumed with the pensacola injectors he had reached...- ve290

If you're only making 7lbs, you're not making enough pressure to open the wastegate in the first place. Adjusting it will make no difference.- ve290

So just how much does a turbo help? Pics too!
I've played with timing quite a bit. I have it advanced about a dimes width from the static timing mark, seems to make the most boost here, but I would like to have it timed more precisely. Still, seems weird to me to only have half the boost others have. I was hoping to have more boost, and...- ve290

When I first installed the kit i used a paper material gasket around the intake from a SBC, I thought I might be loosing pressure there so I cut out a rubber gasket for it. Pretty sure I'm not loosing any boost there. I'm also fairly certain I don't have any exhaust leaks on the way to the...- ve290

For all you with factory turbos, how much boost do you see? I can't get above 5psi unloaded, and pulling 5k lbs up a steep grade I was only able to make 8psi, and that was while hitting the governor. I have the wastegate rod shortened, but it doesnt even matter as I can't make enough boost to...- ve290

pyrometer placement / turbo
After the turbo will be a few hundred degrees cooler. I welded a lugnut (works great as a bung) to my crossover pipe about an inch away from the drivers side exhaust manifold, I think that makes for a pretty accurate location. I also have the Banks DP with the bung on it. I dont have two pyros...- ve290

Got a turbo kit, some questions and install thread
Did you hook up the CDR valve yet? If you are running the CDR valve through the air intake, oil will seep out anywhere you have a boost leak post turbo. Also, banks sells a neat little cast aluminum piece for mounting the CDR if you don't have the valve covers. It bolts on to the front of the IP...- ve290
