    Van Radiator Info/question?

You may want to check around local radiator shops to see if you can have it repaired. It may be a less expensive option. A lot of shops are equipped to re-core and some can even repair/replace the tanks too. I looked around about a year ago or so just in case I ran into problems. They are just...

    Rear heater repair and paint

I saw all that work and was wondering if you had installed one and where it was. I need to put one on my bus (E350 Cutaway). My hose routing is a little different than yours. I like those shutoffs for the rear unit, not bulky at all. I need to install a set on my bus just in case.

Getting ready for another Wisconsin winter, or my own little version of hell

Have you ever tried coating your truck's undercarriage with Fluid Film prior to winter? The reason I ask, is that I was doing research on this same problem and found that quite a few people were using this product prior to the "salt season". It's lanolin based which makes it environmentally...

Power Steering Fluid BLOWS out the Reservoir

This is what I used: I went with this set up so I could pull vacuum and cut off the source once I hit 15 hg. The release is on the side of the hand pump and you would not believe how many times you bump it and release vacuum. :( The second gauge is a vacuum one from Sears. You can find them at...

E40D with no Tach and hard shifts 1990 F250

I know this sounds odd, but check your brake lights and connectors. I ran into shifting problems coming home after tailgating. I needed to replace a rough looking Tach Sensor (I shot a sheet metal screw in the top to hold the wire on it so I could go tailgating :Thumbs Up). I replaced it and it...

Power Steering Fluid BLOWS out the Reservoir

I changed out a PS pump on a 06 Taurus about a year ago when it started blowing out fluid. Spun the old pump and heard a noise that didn't quite sound right. So I bough a new pump and put it and bled the system like I read about and watched on You Tube with out luck. I researched these pumps...

    IDI wizards please step inside…

This is going to sound a little off, but when was the last time you changed the fuel filter? If you don't drive one enough the fuel filter will literally solidify and let a trickle of fuel through. All you need to do is to crank the engine as if you were going to start it. Remove the rubber...

    1989 F350 cross-country prep

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but take along a couple of extra fuel filters, extra oil and filter, and coolant. A little extra wire, connectors, and some tape for good measure. Don't forget to have a small multi meter too, saved my bacon a time or too! I had a friend tell me that...

    2wd Front End Sagging

Just to follow up on the pivot bushing check; once you have those springs off, go over all of the front end. A friend of long ago learned this the hard way. Bad springs will severely changes the geometry of the front end. You'll have an easier time to hearing squeaks and detecting unusual...

    Towing upgrades

If your pulling with an auto transmission, definitely want to install an external trans oil cooler from what I've read here. I think there is some info on this and I believe temp gauge too in here somewhere. I believe I've also read about a pyro/exhaust temp gauge. Don't want to push it too...

    Walmart Batteries

Deka Batteries are manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing. A lot of information on their batteries and where to purchase them: http://www.eastpennmanufacturing.com/ The batteries cost a little more, but from everything I've read they are worth the investment. I currently cannot afford...

6.9 loss of power stalls then dies

6.9 loss of power stalls then dies

You have fuel "filters" as more than the factory one? If so, the factory pump may not be able to keep up. There are some threads on about the demands, filters setups, volume checks post filter - could be your issue. Another thing to look at is how much fuel is actually getting to the pump...

    Walmart Batteries

Odd given that Johnson Controls makes both Wal Mart and Auto Zone Batteries. Each company has a specification sheet in regards to performance. For instance, the Deep Cycle/Cranking batteries I buy have a minimum zero tolerance life cycle duty required by Auto Zones' spec sheet. So Johnson...

    MONSTER TRANSMISSION

My transmission was dropping out of OD and acting strange. Now my Tach Sensor was well past the point of replacing - I drove a screw into the top to hold the wire in until I had time to pick one up -it worked. They aren't cheap either. Rock Auto has one for about $55.00 but never seems to have...

    Walmart Batteries

My bus takes three 27 DP series dual purpose marine batteries (800 CCA, parallel series from Autozone) or one large commercial truck battery. At a $100/ea or about $300 for the latter, I quickly realized that I needed to better understand how to buy/maintain/prolong battery life. There are...

Brake problem , at witts end.

A friend of mine experienced similar issue with his Ford Dually. He replaced parts, power bled, and bled, bled, bled his system. Did I mention, he bled his system? So he decided to bleed them one more time manually about a week or so later. This go around he heard a very slight hiss from the...

    Center Support Bearing (Drive Shaft)

This may or may not help. I did not see any mention of this type of check. Years ago I had trouble with a carrier bearing on a '68 Chev C10 - the old rear coil spring config. The old one went out and I purchased a replacement and installed it (indexing the drive shaft pieces and endpoints)...

    Fuel Heater is leaking

This was the best way IMO to resolve this problem. Eventually the plastic just gives out and you'll need to buy a new heater element. Also since I have a cutaway van body, it's a PIA to get to the thing in the first place.
