I've looked at promar a bunch of times... that's actually one of the ways I'm leaning most.. I'm selling one of my jeeps and getting a good bit of cash, and I'm between rebuilding, dropping in a new engine.. getting my trans looked over, and fixing up my idi a bit
I paid for the axles under it...
And one other question... if I test all 8 cylinders and one or two are low... how do I do a leak down test to see if it's my rings or valves?

The only other thing that concerns me is putting 1k (give or take) and fixing/ getting perfect, new heads.. is that on 5k or 10k miles my block dies from bad coolant, or abuse from PO or whatever else it went through before me
I wouldn't mind rebuilding the whole thing, but if I get it all...
Once the engine is warmed up and everything swells... how long does it take to remove all 8 glow plugs? It won't cool to much while removing them?
And you can test each cylinder individually with no glow plugs in it at all right? It won't change psi from no plugs
And it holds psi in the gauge...
Sorry its been so long... talked to the guy again, he said he never even tested it... he can just " hear" it upon start up and it does huff and chuff at a idle... he said he " just knows these engines and its a valve or guide".. it only needs head work
I don't have the tools, the Ford dealer...
The frame, body, axles, and everything are in perfect shape... with the exception of paint..
I want and need a truck, this one has room for people, and I won't be able to come close to a newer 4 door truck for 3k.. I plan on keeping the truck for a while..
I know little things like...
did a compression test and i have a cylinder thats not adding up..
the motor is a 1992ish IDI 7.3
idk if its ever had the right coolant in it.. i was told the motor only has 110k on it??
if only 110k is it normal for a valve to go bad?
could i end up fixing my head to find i have a...
I thought I put 1/2 in my reply... it's because I haven't had any beer yet this morning... my head is a little foggy, haha
And I will center punch it...
Any tricks for that one nut that's spose to be a pain in the a**?

How do I advance the timing with out messing up the static timing?.. all the videos online look like you just lossen bolts and just swivle the pump.. do you not have to lift the pump to adjust timing? Just simply turning it can change the timing?

The exhaust smells like diesel.. can't rev it and sniff the smoke at the same time... there's about 46 feet of exhaust pipe between me and the tip... it's about as long as a bus

Brand new pop tested Delphin injectors from Conostiga diesel..
Was told the IP was replaced, looks kinda old tho...
From what I'm told only about 110-120k on the motor
And since no garages have the tool the cheapest quote for timing was 500 bucks..
And only smokes under heavy throttle.. none...
I live in Alamorgodo, New Mexico.. and was wondering if there are any guru's that live close by.. Las Cruses, Albq, Roswell, ect.. or even like El Paso Texas.. I could use a hand
I've been have some trouble pinning down and figuring out why I'm blowing white smoke.. I have no oil loss or...
I've got the pump funds stashed away..
And I've looked into timing it, looks like I'm going to need to rent a light and do it myself... just didn't want to go through it all if I have to replace the pump the day after..
Thank you guys.. and who on here rents the timing , and does it come with...
Starts fine hot, and cold...
Has power all day long...
Never stalls...
Pump is dirty, but dry and dusty looking not wet...
Had a mechanic tell me it sounds rough at idle, but I cant hear it...
And I haven't lost any coolant or oil on about 1000 miles of driving

What are the signs of one going out?
I put in new injectors and it fixed my knock but I'm still smoking white with a slight blue tint under throttle...
I was told it has a new pump but it looks used to me.. it's pretty dirty...
Thanks in advance..
