    I think the older F Superdutys had the dana 80 rear axle in them, same as GM was using on the old 3500hd. They ran massive rear disc brakes though, 15in I think.

    I see guys who haul more weight than the factory says you can, is it legal? If GM gives you a GCWR of 23,000 can I register the truck and trailer for say 35,000 GCWR if the trailer is rated for it and I don't exceed the axle ratings on the door and have the proper lic?

    I can't say about the body you asked about but a friend of mine has a 4500 ramp truck with a 19' deck and it is easy as hell to drive. Turning is awesome and I could park it in town I bet. :D

    I would bet that any of the newer trucks are going to be better. The newer designed trucks are getting away from flexing frames by making the boxed or rolled edges to give better torsional ridgedness and making the suspension do it's job. Or maybe you watched 1 to many Duke's of Hazzard shows...

    I think it comes down to Chrysler not crash testing the trucks with a chassis body on them and getting certified that way. The older GM short bed trucks like mine fell under the same problem. I am not sure about Ford or DC as far as the older models go.
