Hi Guys...I haven't been on this forum for awhile. I'm having trouble with my dash brake warning light staying on most of the time. My very old recollection is that it has something to do with the brake proportioning valve. What should I do to fix this? Thanks!
I just got rid of a camper I've had on the truck for years. I put the tailgate back on the truck, and it's stuck in the closed position! WTF? I put some Kroil on anything that looked like it was supposed to move, but couldn't see too well. Do you guys have any ideas how I might get this...
I think putting a bathroom scale under the wheel of a truck is a good way to ruin the scale. It would clearly be a weight outside the range of the scale's capacity.
I own a Jeep Liberty. They did make a Liberty with a diesel in it, though it's rare. I know nothing more than this, so you'd have to research what engine they used.
I feel like a babe in the woods on this discussion. I've wondered about towing double a few times...haven't done it though. I have used the scale Towcat refers to. The only thing I would add is that because I have a big camper on the '85 truck, when I try to weigh one wheel, the results are...
I don't think it will shift if you aren't moving. Also, I've found that unloading the drive train (taking my foot off the pedal) facilitates the shift. I just hate the "clunk". My other truck has the Gear Vendors, which is automatic and shifts smooth. I like it better operationally, but the...
At the risk of repeating myself, you have to get ALL the air out of the coolant passages in the engine. I've been here and done that 15 years ago. One way is to make sure that the nose of the truck is pointed uphill when filling with coolant (per Towcat). Another is to remove the temp sensor...
Remember...you have to burp a big air bubble out of the top of the head in order to get it to cool correctly. Towcat says you can fill the radiator with the nose up high, like on a hill.
I fooled around with this in the Test section, then tried to move it to the Lounge. It wouldn't move. Seems like it would be of interest. Could a Moderator move it? Wish the photos were bigger, too.
This Is An Engine!
The Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C turbocharged two-stroke diesel engine is the most powerful and most efficient prime-mover in the world today. The Aioi Works of Japan 's Diesel United, Ltd built the first engines and is where some of these pictures were taken. It is...
I put one of these on my '85 a number of years ago. It works well, but I've never quite become accustomed to the push-button shifting. Maybe I do it wrong. It makes a pretty big "clunk" when I shift it. If you have any tips on smoother shifting, I'd like to know. It is one HEAVY unit. Thanks.
How about a couple years? The main thing you have to be careful of is the batteries going dead on you. I've had this happen more than once. Installing a battery on/off switch on + side of each battery would help. I just did that.
Looks good! I notice it seems a bit slower than the old template. Also, what happened to all the "thanks" data that used to appear? Are we starting from scratch on that? Thanks!
I'm not aware of any pumps that do better sucking than pushing...except maybe a vacuum pump whose sole purpose is sucking. Almost all fluid pumps do better when the intake is not restricted and they are placed below the level of the fluid they are pumping. The only disadvantage to having the...
SOLD! This is a bench seat center console I took out of my '85 Ford Pickup when I changed over from bench seats to bucket seats. It was used for two years, but is in good shape. $35 plus shipping. Located in SF Bay Area. This is a soft cushion finish, not vinyl. Contact via P/M.
Never installed. This was bought for a Chevy C10 pickup, but never installed.
Found it recently in my stuff. Color is brown and navy blue stripe. Not for headrest seats. It's a Saddleback brand. Very good condition. Price: $22 plus shipping.
I have very few "special tools" in my tool box in 45 years of wrenching, but I did buy the special Ford Fan blade removal tool. Not too expensive, and cheaper than a new fan blade.
It sounds like you are dangerous already! Your vacuum pump should be mechanical, not electrical. If you don't have vacuum, or have a leak or a missing cap where you are supposed to, it won't hold a vacuum and nothing that depends on vacuum will work. Vacuum pump is on the front of the engine...
Old Bull...you taught this old dog a new trick. I didn't know that about motorhome refrigerators. I ran down the road on propane for years. My Norcold would go through three cycles of trying to start and then give me an error code it it wouldn't light. It always ran OK on the road. I just...
I've been running a now obsolete secondary 2 mil filter with a water separator bowl at the bottom. This is plumbed in series with the standard fuel filter. It's getting to be time to change the filter, but what can I use?
Filter is a Nelson Koalescer 85320-N
I found a cross reference...
