Only thing to consider is that the Allison is a rather large transmission, so you may have to massage the floorpan a bit. Let us know how the project goes. I've been evnisioning a modded duramax in a rwd car for awhile now.
NVCowboy, have a look at the identification lamp on 2001 and newer GM 3500s, those are lower profile, and might fit your bumper. You'll just have to grind off the 2 mounting tabs. That light can be had for about $20. I attached mine with 3M double sided tape, and that light never comes off.
I have 2 pairs of Fabtech FT-208 rear add a leafs for sale (Fits 99+ F250/F350) 2wd and 4x4. Each pair should provide about 2" lift.
These are unused, and are in good condition. They have a small bit of surface rust, but nothing that can of rust-o-lium can't fix.
I would like...
It will fit, but you will have to change the bumper, headlights, and header panel to the 05 design as well. I did this conversion on my 2000. All the parts can be had for around $1,100-1,200 if you shop around. Try and find the front bumper on ebay.
I can see the cylinder deactivation on a gasser, however, diesel engines rely on the fuel for some of its lubrication needs. Would be interesting to see how they could overcome this.
I'd love to see how a diesel-electric drivetrain would perform. Diesel engine powering an electric motor...
If this is your first PSD, learn about the CPS, and consider keeping a spare, with the 10mm socket and screw driver. That is the main "weak link" in the 7.3 engine.
What kind of things did he have to do? Are we talking relocating the radiator/intercooler, etc, and cutting the firewall, or more along the lines of just motormounts, etc?"
Actually I just happened across the jacob's web site, and I noticed their comments on why they don't offer a "jake" brake for the 7.3 psd. I wasn't referring to the ebv, as much as I was to the banks brake. I wasn't really looking for as much info, as I mainly found their explanation...
Just wondering. . . How do the dt466 and the 6bt compare in size? I had a transplant idea pop into my head for when my trusty 7.3 wears out (not likely anytime soon).
Will a 245/70R19.5 fit on stock 99-04 F-450 wheel in the back without the duals rubbing? I'm considering purchasing a set of used steel wheels from a F-450. If not what where would be a good place to get a basic 19.5 wheel fairly cheap?
Thanks in Advance
Another update: I started her up this morning, and it seems to be running a bit smoother, however I'm getting no reading on my fuel pressure gauge, so I'm replacing that now, and am going to change the oil, to see if maybe the problems could be unrelated?
the other thing that I noticed, is that the truck once shut off, was inconsistent about holding pressure. Somedays it would hold 70psi for 7-8 hours, other days the fuel pressure dropped within 15 mins of being shut off. (I noticed this immediately after I did the return regulator)
Yes, I tried readjusting the regulator, I carry a basic toolset with me in the truck. The min pressure for the regulator to open is 40 psi. When you say the high pressure pump, you mean the one on the driver's side frame rail right?
The truck is a 2000 f-350 7.3 6 speed. I installed the return regulator mod about 900 miles ago, along with the pre pump and in tank mods. Went to the store tonight, and when I came out, truck started, but felt like it was missing. I checked my fuel pressure gaguge (which I believe is fairly...
