Jets, air bleeds, badly set idle mix, float setting, weak ignition, etc etc
My 76 F100 gets 11-12mpg if I baby it with a 390. you probably won't get too much better, but I'm sure you can get a lil better.
Hehe, well heck that is worth something. I've got a thing for comfy full sized cars with absurd horsepower.
Honestly, if I get finished with this car, I have to work on my truck a lil... make it pretty and stuff (might even buy a heater at some point). After that I might slowly save up for...
Blackdog, I'm accepting donations of 427 blocks.... :P
Honestly, I would have probably stuck a stroked 390 in there, but the car came with most of the engine, I couldn't justify spending two years saving money to build an engine that'd match the one that was in there.
On the bright side...
Gary/Icanfixall,
thanks for the GearVendor. Finally getting around to installing it. Hope it works without any issues!

On another note.... you are looking for a truck with a 6.9, so presumably if it has an automatic, it is a c6 transmission.
You state: "Thanks for that, i do not like the automatic trani , too much trouble my friend spent 2500 for a rebuild"
Anyone that paid $2500 for a c6 rebuild got raped...
someone buy it!

I wish I had the energy, it's be a cool race car hauler for me.
Trackspeeder, this kit comes with all parts needed. For a beginner it is essential. If you already know how to rebuild a c6, you could probably save $50 getting just the parts you need. Tho the booklet that comes with the kit has a lot of good tips and modifications. Plus having the #9...

Wouldn't the precombustion chambers get loose in the aluminum? I mean aluminum would expand at a faster rate than iron. It's still be held in place by the head/deck interface but I'd be worried about it hammering in that little clearance and making a larger hole over time.
Most aftermarket...
I could never claim to have bought something called "A moose Blower"
sorry.... couldn't ever do that in good spirits.
Here is a thought. Why not develop a system of piping, air intake boxes, etc etc that could be sold. Have this usable with a very common turbo that could be found easily...
didn't mean to cause any confusion, I just wanted to make sure the firing order was noted.
easiest way is to just go and swap the plug wires to the other firing order and crank it up. It'll be obvious if it's better or worse :P
so, take the valve covers off and figure out which cylinders fire fire by baring the engine over and observing the valves. check the same in the previous engine.
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 for 351, 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 for 302.
I don't mess with windsors that much, but this seems like something that'd be...
Colder weather, hoses are cold, you probably have a vacuum leak.
Take handheld vacuum pump and test the hoses from the truck's vac pump, the booster, the vrv to transmission, Modulator, etc. Worst case scenario, replace all vac hoses and reset the VRV to spec.
Despite some well intentioned...
what really needs to happen here..... buy the truck, put a 390 in it, my co worker's son has this truck for sale: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/3320654633.html
Put the diesel in it.
Have two awesome trucks. live long happy life.
What towcat means, is the folks here are poor. They would all love to buy your truck, but most of them lack the funding to keep their own truck running.
Nice project! I love the 67-72's near as much as the dentsides.
