guys as u well know my idi coughed up a lung and had a heart attack .... i am gonna put a cummins 12v in it and i am pretty sure that 5.13 gears are gonna be to high i can do a 3.73( thin gear set ?) or 4.10 i know there isnt much diffrance in those 2 but i dont want to take away to much of...
in a pick up yes it is to high ... my 89 superduty has 5:13 rear gears and a zf5 trans w the drive line parking brake ..... and i like the pull this truck has when loaded ... the gears allow us bigger weight trucks to move more i have had this truck at 26,000 lbs total weight truck and trailor...
yea its a f450 or f59 chassis .... the weight rating on it is 14,800 lbs witch i was well over with the yukon on the bed then added a trailor ... it did relly well and drove like a dream u know thoses things drive better loaded .... i plan on gettin it going agian soon so i can drive the crap...
u guys may think im nuts but i have put a loaded gmc yukon on the bed and another yukon and a mustang on a trailor and went over 700 miles like that running 65-75 mph ... with my idi it was a tough engine !

ok call me stupid but i dont run a fuel heater on mine mine started leaking and i just plugged it with some bad ass rtv and no leaks at all .... i just rememberd it lol i was out of town and mine was pouring fuel everywhere but the rtv chit was a nice quick fix

i just want to know with the studs and good gaskets and an intercooler if i can go on up past 15 with the boost ? i know im prob dreamin but id like to see how it dose with some better valve springs and say 20 ish pounds ? or if im gonna be pickin up the peices off the side of the road ...
i am thinking of doing head studs on my 7.3 idi when i put the new heads on and upgrading to a turbonetics 76mm turbo .... and settin it up to olny make 14 or so pounds of boost .... will the idi hold that much and will the head studs keep the heads firmly mounted to the block also going to...
lol yea but this truck olny has a factory turbo (ats i think ) but u are right it can make things happen lol
as for the price of heads cheapest i have found them local is $500 per head ...
here is the number 8 combustion chamber of my idi ... found this nasty crack between the valves and into the intake valve seat i think there is a water jacket that runs through there lol.... so now i need to find a set of c3 heads... if any of yall local to me has a rebuilt or good set lmk
use a multi meter they have a setting to check resitance i had been having issues with mine and removed them due to pulling the head and had 7 bad ones oh and be careful replacing the shut off silinoid ... if ur not carful how u take the other one off if u dont get it right and it doses start...
check ur lift pump and see if it is pumping fuel ... also check the resistance on ur glow plugs should be all zero's if there good .... check them one at a time if they have any kinda resitance they are bad
