Replaced it last year and now the check engine light came on and there is no throttle response. After slapping the pedal a few times it came back. Is there something else wrong or is the sensor prone to premature failure?

It's a 1990 4x4 Lariat with factory Banks turbo.
I know that it had starting issues and I'm replacing the glow plugs. The starter also needs attention.
My question is about the glow plug controller. Can I bypass it with the push button setup?

I'd blame the controller that THEY installed for burning out YOUR glow plugs. The way I see it the damage done by their warrantied part ruined your glow plugs.
I don't plug it in and it starts in the coldest weather. I wait till the OP gets up and take off. Plugging it in sure makes it nice when it's cold since the heater works NOW. Costs too much for that luxury.
Buy these. I've had them for over four years and they start no matter what.
