Corroded/Old rubber and hard plastic fuel lines caused blockage in my fuel system and tank switch controller. Caused an immediate shut down of engine due to loss of fuel. Just my 2c!
So bought a 2002 TDI/5spd New Beetle w/348k for $1500. Runs and drives great and AC is cold. Clutch is solid. Alignment/suspension good. Timing belt replaced the original @ 298k. Synthetic oil changes every 10k. Put 5600 miles on it since buying 09/01/2019. The alternator quit...
My daily drive to take my son to and from school went from 20 miles to 120...in a SUBURBAN:puke:. I am on the way to look a 2004 5-spd diesel Beetle w/150K. Wish me luck!
Crud is getting in the fuel lines and clogging up the fuel selector valve. I put a 2 gal. container of fuel umder the hood and ran the intake hose from fuel pump to it. It ran smooth and sounded great. So now the decision is to either drop tanks and fix selector valve or run the 38gal. Bronco...
Is the hard shiny fuel line reusable? I do not see hose clamps on those lines where they hook up on the FSV. Is there a proper way to remove and reattach the shiny fuel line?
Well my truck ran great for about a week. Fuel issue showed up again and shut the engine down quickly this time. No fuel at the filter head. Fuel flow from fuel tank to lift pump is good. I replaced lift pump again. It started and ran smooth for about three minutes then started to shudder like...

Fishing is light but it is fun trying. The Frio is pretty shallow in most parts. Tubing is fun tho.
@ the rest...like I said, it was just a suggestion. Where in San Antonio might we be able to meet?
Not only am I in, I also have a suggestion for a place to hold it if you guys are interested. We have 11 acres river front property on the Frio River in Concan, Texas adjacent to Garner State Park. There is plenty of room for camping w/ elec. water and an old house for the women folk and kids if...
Thanks for all input guys. It is up and running again. Sounds great and is running smooth again. After removing the lift pump with the steel line attached I was able to free the frozen nut. Thanks again for taking the time to make suggestions.
Lift pump replaced. I am curious about blockage in FSS. That is the "fuel selector switch" that switches the supply between tanks right? I m only using the rear tank due to an un-diagnosed leak on the front tank. Switch still works. Can it be removed and cleaned? Or should I try to toggle the...
Agreed Sir. That piece of fuel line on the intake side was like a piece of chewing gum. I replaced it with hopes that it might have been the culprit. Still not getting any fuel to the filter head. Thanks for your input.
I'm sure this has been asked before...Can these olives be bought at a local parts house? If so does anyone have a part#? And GREATPICS!!!! that fuel return looks awesome and those IP numbers are impressive.
I cannot loosen the nut that has the steel line attached from the lift pump without bending the pump and or stripping the nut. I am using a line wrench and still no go. Tried to tighten it a bit to free it up and still nothing. I used spray lube. My question is if I remove the pump with the...
I replaced my front buckets with seats from a '95 and I think we were able to remove the pedestal from the original seats and mount them on the new ones.
Welcome to the Forum. I don't need this kinda work done right now. but if I did, I would be looking into this place.
