    gas vs. diesel hauling

We tow 10,040 lbs of high profile 5th wheel with our small block gasser. Not a problem around th southeast. With our previous Cummins powered Rams, we towed in O/D at 2100rpm and direct at 2900rpm on the steeper uphills. With the Hemi, we tow in direct at 2800rpm and 2nd gear at 4200rpm on the...

    Changing the tranny oil

ATF+4 is now available in the auto parts stores made by Valvoline. It's a real, licensed by Chrysler ATF+4, not a universal fits all fluid. It's full synthetic.

    4.7,5.9,V10 or Hemi's

32k miles and still no trouble. I rotated the tires this morning for the first time. Needed the exercise so says the doc and their's nothing else to do to it but wash it. I hope it stays this way for a long time. Those Michelins really live up to their reputation. Buddy has over 80k on his and...

    Changing the tranny oil

ATF+4 if fine to use in the 46RE or 46RH. It's a synthetic ATF+3. ATF+3 is available in autoparts stores if he wants to just do a pan drop filter and fluid change. I've done all of mine that way. No problems so far. Powerflushing should be fine. I've just never seen the need for it unless the...

    4.7,5.9,V10 or Hemi's

Just turned over 25000 on the Hemi Ram yesterday. No problems and not one trip to the dealership. No new car bugs, tweaks, flashes or anything. Very happy with this one.

    What do you haul?

This was weird. I was reading my own post on page one and thinking, I don't have a 13,400 lb tow rating. Then it dawned on me this is my old truck. Instead of going for the HO, I decided to give the Hemi a try. Does a good job just one gear down in every like situation. New truck is a duplicate...

    4.7,5.9,V10 or Hemi's

Does your pop tow with his? My buddy's '03 is just about to turn over 70k miles with only one trip to the dealership for the tranny reflash. Other than that and a gas cap for fault code p0442, it has been flawless. I'm about to turn 22k on mine with no problems at all. Dodge did it right with...

Damn it I got the vibs.

Hate to hear that... I got rid of my '03 Cummins powered Ram for the dreaded driveline vibration. It was not motor. I could shut the motor off at 70 and coast down through the 68mph vibration speed and it was bad enough to rattle change in the ashtray. It was about the frequency of one of those...

    Frame problems?

You can weld or drill to the frame. There's a TSB on the guidelines to follow just like every other frame has had drilling or welding guidelines to follow. IF... the frame fails due to your crappy welding or drilling of the frame, it's on your nickel. This is no different than it's ever been...

    Dodge Dakota?

We sure like our '01 Durango with 4.7L and 45RFE tranny. The 4.7L is suseptible to sludge like many others. DC recommends we use oil that meets Chrysler's MS-6395 requirements as well as API ILSAC GF-4 certification. Each motor is different with it's sliding cam followers, timing chain or gears...

    4.7,5.9,V10 or Hemi's

There was an '01 QC long bed with V-10 and auto I would have liked to have bought at a car lot close by a couple of months ago. It was in great shape. I wanted to own one before they got discontinued. I was tempted but passed on it and it was gone a couple of weeks later. Someone got a nice truck!

    I love my cummins!!!!!

The "box look" is what causes screaming bambinos! I couldn't resist. Sorry... I didn't know you had one in the oven. Congrats!!! What I like most about the box look is, no the box looking truck, is that the motor is entirely accessible. The new cab forward looks good too but it sure makes...

    I love my cummins!!!!!

I drove a blue '90 in '95. I would have bought it but my Mrs didn't like it. It had a 727 3spd auto with 3.07 ratio rear end. No intercooler and one battery. The tube from the turbo straight over to the intake plate had "Cummins" in red letters. It was a sweet old truck. But the interior smelled...

    Vibration

I did get nasty at first. The service manager and I had a shouting match in the service drive. He got fired. They swapped drive shafts and helped alot but after our last trip out with the 5th wheel, it got worse. They measured the drive line angles and said it's within specs. Then I decided to...

    4.7,5.9,V10 or Hemi's

I traded my '03 Cummins in on an '05 same truck but Hemi. It's smooth as silk with no vibrations at all. The 5spd tranny works great. If it's anything like the Allison, I can see why folks like the Allison. A real tow haul mode with grade breaking. I hope the Mercedes blood Aysen however you...

    Vibration

I fixed my vibration! After three great Dodge Cummins trucks and then the '03, I'm driving my new '05 silky smooth 2500 Hemi with 5spd auto/3.73. If DC would do as good a job matching the driveline of the Cummins to the truck as they did with the Hemi, I'd still have the '03. I'd be pissed off...

    3g Dyno W/ Bullydog Powerpup

Holy crap! Is there any production car or truck that you can't blow the doors off of with that bohemouth? Even the SRT 10 would have to strain like hell to remain in sight of your tail lights eh?

    Awsome 04.5!!!

We only got 9.6 towing our high profile 10,400 lb 5th wheel from Florida to Mississippi over the weekend. Here I sit highjacking someone's wireless router!!! in the campground. We had some strong coldfront headwinds all the freakin' way here and some hills that put our SO Cummins on it's knees...

What type of slushboxes yall runnin?

Bone stock here sept for the temp gauge. I changed the fluid and filter at 38,000~ and all looked great. We tow a 10,400 lb high profile 5th wheel every chance we get. I don't know how many miles but 10k would be fairly close. I really like driving an auto that shifts right. I hate driving one...

    auto tarns. in 2001

If you're doing a pan drop service, you'll need about 5quarts. Some folks do this often instead of doing the flush routine. As simple as it is to do, I'm surprised I don't do it more often.

    Vibration

Well, so much for the scientific approach. I stopped in the local Goodyear store for their fantastic tire balance act. Carlos took his time (45 mins) and said only one was out enough to feel. So out on the road I went. Vibration is still there. I a freakin' Einstein!!! :frustrate :kick: :idiot...

    Rear end oil

My '03 is a standard output with a 47RE automatic. They came with a 10.5. The HO 6spd 2500 and the 3500 came with a 11.5 even with the HEMI. Now that there's no SO, all Cummins 2500s and HEMI or Cummins 3500s come with 11.5s. I should'a waited a year.

    Vibration

When I bought my truck, the tech who did the prep said, "this one vibrates". Yeah so did my last three. It's a Cummins. Like Harleys, they vibrate. First trip out on the interstate, he wasn't shttn. So I returned to the dealership where they rebalanced my tires. Now I had a tire vibration along...
