Not certain if it was coincidence or not however just recently replaced injectors and within couple days two glow plugs died. Replaced them and so far so good. The "ticking" noise is still there. I know there's an exhaust leak in that goofy slip joint on the ATS turbo up pipe. Guess I'll...
I have an 87 that's open and an 89 limited slip. (both idi diesel Sterling axles and both are 4.10). I can take a pic of the 89 tag if that will help. Currently installing it in a highboy so it's easy access right now.
No signs of previous repairs. Actually, the spindle portion where the bearing and race are located are still in place in the brake drum. Failure occurred between the race and backing plate. Truth is, I was not exaggerating when I said it has been overloaded many many times during the last 30...
There are wide variances in the configurations available utilizing the Sterling 10.25 - 10.5 rear and I should've listed what mine originated from. It was an 1989 F350 4x4 single cab diesel. One main difference with this rear vs say one from a powerstroke (other than the wheel bolt pattern) is...
Anyone ever do a Sterling axle swap on a Ford highboy? Unbelievably I actually broke the end off the original dana 60 rear {shouldn't say "unbelievably", because I've been abusing this rear for over 30 years, constantly overloading it), anyway net result it needs to be replaced. Looked around...
Stockinteriors.com I bought carpets and a headliner from them, "top notch stuff". You have to select options you want. I ordered higher grade carpet + jute and it was first class stuff.
If any of you all are wanting to replace a broken cowl wiring cover {the plastic cover running left to right on top of the firewall}, the plastic piece that always gets snapped in half during engine removal, Ford has them again! PN# F81Z-14A099CA. I bought one from local Ford parts dealer to...
Blocks like that used to be easy firewood around here also, then a major wood pellet manufacturer built a factory. They buy up all of the scrap lumber and grind it for making wood pellets.
I made certain all of the old copper washers came out with each old injector, however did not look into each hole to verify there wasn't one from a previous injector removal. Installing new injectors I simply used vaseline to hold the new washer on while screwing it in.
Investigated pesky power steering leak that finally progressed to a point that it can't be avoided any longer. Sitting in the drive with engine running it doesn't leak a drop {well maybe a drop}, turn the steering wheel while it's running and it leaks pretty good around the shaft with pitman...
Just finished replacing injectors and have some of those same concerns / questions: do injectors tell a story similar to spark plugs? One of mine was extremely rusty {driver side} and one was extremely oily {passenger side}. Attached photos illustrating "oily", "rusty", and an example of how...
I can't speak to product quality just yet however I will say the transaction was immediate and shipped same or next day. The product was in stock, well packaged, and shipped timely. So far zero complaints. Truck is in garage now with hood open, I'll let you all know how they work.
Since the rad had antifreeze in it, a quick way to determine if in fact it is water infiltration thru the air cleaner would be to take a sample of that grey liquid and put it in your freezer. Obviously if it freezes, there's a good chance the head gaskets are OK.
pumping the throttle doesn't seem to make a difference. This injection pump and injectors have been in place for 10 years and nearly 100'000 miles on mostly wmo mix so if i need to replace both I'm OK with it. Ticking seems to be present both warm and cold therefore I'm hoping it's not valvle...
Periodically noticing that my throttle is sticking. I put a new cable on it years ago, however i wonder if this is a cable issue of pump problem. This truck also recently started making a noticeably louder ticking noise. Not sure if they're related or not??? I bought a new set of CDD "stock"...
