I fell a serpentine system is more robust. The idi alternator belt run is annoying on v belt. I want to add a/c to my truck at some point and its much easier to do so on serpentine. You just unbolt the idler and bolt the a/c compressor in.
Thanks for the tip.
So i have a question where is this spot where you use the quarter inch wrench. The bolts looking thing on the front of the rod looks far to small.
With my new ip my cold idle is only 800 rpm. I'd like to bring it up to 1100 were it used to be.
There isn't really any room to slide to bracket forward from the looks of it.
Is there anyway to adjust the solenoid arm to go out more?
The new abs systems work fantastically. The old ones like this. Not so much. If you are going to bypass put in a proportioning valve so your front brake get enough pressure before the rears lockup.
Good to know for the future. At that time the light would come on for maybe a second go away for quite a few miles come on a little. Then it never came on again again so i though nothing of it.
I would check the lines since i'm having the same problem now and all signs point to the lines / fsv.
I had this happen awhile back when i put a new filter in. Light went away after awhile, not sure if the filter has to break in or something.
Light comes on due to suction on the ip to the fuel filter. The ip can pump its own fuel.
Then again i am now having problem with fuel supply at...
Thanks alot!
Ya it sorta is, and how both the pump and the injector return. Pretty neat system.
I hope this works. I''ll be happy to drive my truck more than a mile. It does run like a top now at idle when it has fuel. New ip and injectors sure make a difference.
I know the supply line is 3/8.
Does anyone know what the return is that runs back to the tank? My best guess is 5 / 16.
Bypassing my fsv since i think it has some junk in it causing fuel starvation at higher rpms.
Yeah thats my thought a restriction, bad pump , or my sender is really broke, or my hard lines have a hole in them somewhere. I did hear that someone had there sender break at the top. I do know the shower head is broken but, the fuel level is far above the tank level where that is ever a...
Thanks guys.
Fuel filter has 2 miles on it.
Fuel at the valve. It gets plenty of fuel at idle but once you drive it it starts to drain the fuel filter and will pull suction on the ip side.
I have gates barricade hose from the hard line to the pump.
I believe it works with diesel...
Has anyone ever had a problem with dud mechanical fuel pumps.
Everything is good on my lines, and everything no leaks.
Fuel filter lights comes on so there is too much suction on the IP side post fuel filter and it starts the run rough.
Good news is the truck runs like a top otherwise...
Number 2 cylinder. My passenger side all went down by hand the whole entire way. I think it has to do with how the advance is set on the pump. I know it was much easier to advance once i disconnected all the lines when i set the timing.
Thanks for the tip I'll try it out. I was pricing dies...
Didn't check to see if it was in the parts list. I'll take a look. I've looked at it before but for some reason didn't think it would be on there. Sorry about that.
*edit* i looked in the parts bin can't seem to find anything. Can you point me in the right direction?
So you say it can wear...
Your local injection shop should still be building stuff. Mine had no problem getting one for me. Authorized stanadyne dealer so i figure they do good work.
Just don't let your injectors go too long. My truck likes to run like crap. Surges all the time. I don't drive it because i can't...
Wow, so its is possible. Add me too that list of tons of miles on injectors.
Mine runs poorly to say the least too. Its odd because it was running fine until a month ago. But, before that it did start to idle a bit funky but i though nothing of it. Then on a moving trip it just sounded weird...
My injectors are grey international color under the air cleaner. Not sure how i missed that.
Unless they were rebuilt at some point they have 347,000 miles on them. I have all the maintenance records for the truck since 2001. 250,000 miles worth of records. Nothing about injectors.
