    Sensor?

    I was digging around under my dash and found this mechanical/ electric type of "sensor" and have no idea what it is. It had duct tape wrapped all around it and had a piece of wood jammed on it keeping a spring compressed. Wtf Anyone know what this is? Pics:

    Engine ID

    When I bought my truck the previous owner told me it had a 94' turbo engine swapped in. I read today that the 93 and 94 motors had serpentine belts however my engine has V-belts. How can I determine what year my engine is from? Truck is an 88'.
