    7.3 idi build

Classic OB to busy living in denial to accept reality. Same ol' douchebaggery as when i left. You guys that rag on racin are just as guilty, or more, of the shit spewing out of youre mouths as you claim of justin. As for his shop... i assume his DB4 just puts itself together and he pulls it...

    ZF 5 smf rollover noise

Not sure about different oil, but i know some over fill the trans by .5-1qt through the shifter and usually this helps quiet it down.

Put a new seal in and its still leaking...

excessive crank-case pressure comes to mind.

Not sure what to do next... The ongoing saga of the eternal knock of death.

wow lol I didnt mention wrist pin because im not sure if it would keep clackin or go away with the injector cracked. I want to say it keeps going. but a wrist pin makes more of a slapping whereas a rod/main is a definite knock. A wrist pin will also sound as if its coming from the head...

Not sure what to do next... The ongoing saga of the eternal knock of death.

Why get a short block? If its just a knock it is not that expensive to fix. Set of rod / main bearings, polish the crank, recondition the rods (that need it) and away you go. If it were a piston compression would be low. With our oil pumps i think a bearing would have to get REAL bad before...

    Bumper hitch rating

We have the same brand of service bed on a 96 dodge at work. it pulls a single wheel tandem dump trailer all the time with up to 5-6 yards of rock in it just fine. But looking at it again, the bumper on it seems more built into the bed on ours, it doesnt hang down low like yours does. If...

Wow this is a nice buy check it out

It even has a diesel already in it. Neat truck, a guy built a 71 CCsb here local a few years ago with a 24v in it put about 60k on it, sold it and a week later the kit wrapped it around a telephone pole... and i mean wrapped. Bumpers were almost touching.

    Turbo Clearance issue

Nah, OP sent me a PM and it would appear i was mistaken, i edited the post along with an apology. Back on track, whatever you do, DO NOT use 2x4s.. i seen the end outcome and it wasnt pretty.. pickup here... cab, not so much.

    I really should know this...

Only e40d i seen it was tucked almost directly behind the passenger side cylinder head w/ grey or faded black handle.

    235-85-16 on DRW question

I was gunna say... that should be stock tires size. 4x4 dually werent offered until 99 iirc, only as conversions, so anything could be changed on them. But im 99% that 235/85/16s were factory on 3/4 and heavier light trucks.

    Turbo Clearance issue

Yes, as long as the cab doesnt hit the bed. Could just be that the cab slit forward. puck lift is good, or try moving the cab back some, or both. As far as the mounts, ive seen worse, those arent too bad. EDIT: It would seem my previous comment was directed at someone else with the same...

    Flatlander build piston solution found

If you know perchance which engine? If the rods are good to X amount, i would assume the wrist pins would be as well, but hard to say, if theyre out of a 6 im sure theyre tougher. But grinding that much out of the crank still leaves me leary, assuming you are going for the .25" stroke as well...

    Flatlander build piston solution found

I understand ya. I wasnt planning on stroking or anything from the get go. I was just trying to find out what kinda rods theyre using and what size of wrist pins go with em. In the case that a little machine work was necessary for some beefier parts i was going to go for it. However i think...

    Flatlander build piston solution found

Possibly, more so what parts they use im guessing. I can go to any machine shop and have my crank ground, so its not a big secret. I personally am starting to feel a little skeptical of their quality, like theyre trying to hide something. Oh well theyre a long ways away anyway. I do hope it...

    Flatlander build piston solution found

Got it man, i forgot about the rally comin up so i can see why your busy. I was just curious as to the type of people they are at barnett, they seem reluctant to offer information let alone do business, perhaps it is not the option im wanting after all. I know all about what you mean slingin...

    Best Grease?

We use John Deere brand, dunno who makes it, but if its good enough for JD its good enough for me. For wheel bearings dont use regular grease as mentioned, get the high pressure or specifically bearing grease. Dunno what brand it is but our tub of bearing grease is red, and veerrry tacky, cant...

    Best Shocks?

Ive always liked rancho's, had some 5000s on my 77, but the ones i really loved were my James Duff shocks on my ranger, maybe a little soft in corners, but theyre smooth, and excellent off road.

    HE351VE Remote Mount Turbo

My guess is it means kinda like what you were saying about using a ram and actuator or w/ever to keep it balanced, as in the stand alone more so just opens and closes vs, working smooth and even across the power band. Definately interested in some pics of your setup, i would love to use a vgt...

    Flatlander build piston solution found

Bump? I got one email back, very vague. "$2300 we offset grind your crank and use aftermarket pistons and rods" I sent them another more detailed email and have yet to hear back from them in over a week. Just wondering if you have any updates and if youre still able to contact them.

    Different intake manifold.

lol Been looking at some CAT pumps and im figuring on building a smilar intake as the 3208, as far as i know its similar to the psd. Hopefully free up room for the bigger pump, bigger turbo, and the smaller firewall. As far as split goes, im not sold on whether its better or not to be...

    HE351VE Remote Mount Turbo

I didnt realize that 10lbs was such great results. Only thing i have to compare to is my dads 92 w/ 088 and no gauge. Im smokeless with the pump maxxed at 1300 and thats where it "lights" as it were from there it really jumps. Been half wondering if this charger is in fact to small to go much...

    AWSOME news and Questions....

Go with a factory turbo engine if you want the best imo. Bigger wrist pins, stronger rods, heavier block, bigger oil cooler, 1/2" head bolts, serp. belt etc. If its not pinhole'd run SCAs and it wont, or if youre skiddish sleeve it and forget about it, not to a 6.9, as you cant run the turbo...
