Well It's time to part ways with big Blue. 1986 CC, Dually.
It went down a few years ago and I have wanted to fix it but the reality is I haven't done it by now so it probably isn't getting done. Truck is complete with the exception that it will need at least a valve job (my best guess) to...
Thanks. I am looking also for the mpg. I am commuting to the tune of 60,000 plus miles a year. so I am trying to get both. what are the older Benzses getting for mpg?
any one with any experience in one? I am commuting a 180 miles a day and the 97 f350 only will give me 21 mpg if I keep it down in the 60's
any info would be good at this point. I am also thinking the VW, but I like the thought of a bit more metal around me on the SoCal freeways.
He came by yesterday and pretty much confirmed what I suspected. Old Blue (86 6.9L) will be need a transplant.
Now I will have to count up the pennies and see whats left after buying the 97.
This is what I am using. I have a good $5 grand in tools in it. It is big and heavy and will be harder to open w/ crow bar then a lot of the shinny ones. I am not caring about the looks just about keeping my tools in my possesion...
They were the large ones. I got one side off, but it wasn't the side I needed, just the side that was in the shade.
The other side needs to have the rotor turned. Thats why the big bolts needed to come out. Found some Loc-tite on the side I got out after getting serious on it:D .
it...
from some of you more experienced guys. I bought a 97 PSD a few weeks ago and now need to do the front brakes on it.
here's the question. How do I get to bolts loose to pull off the calipers so I can get the pads changed? I have tried to use my breaker bar but no luck so far. evn put on a pipe...
Old Blue (my 6.9 ) seems to have passed away. I went out to start it Wednesday after it had sat since thursday the week before. It wouldn't start. -cuss I have never not been able to start this thing in the last ten years.
So after foolin around with it for about three hours I sank to...
So i am watching the olympics and see the new Chebby impala comercial. The one that talks about the 8 cyl engine that shuts down to four cylinders in econo mode. Can thet be done with any electric controlled injectors? like just put a swith in line and shut off two of them when running down...
When you take the fan off, reach into the A/C evaporator box and see how much junk has collected in it. i did mine last summer and found the whole thing packed with leaves. What a pain to clean.
I hit it right behind the passenger side front tire. She was scooting fast enough to bend both frame rails and moved the front end over about two or three inches. The bent in front of the suspension so i had the wheels aligned, chained down the hood and have just driven it. The Camero was...
Thanx guys, I am not sure I can handle that weight alone. That will be a lot heavier than anything I have done to date. If i do it I will be pulling the entire front clip of to. I need to straighten the frame a bit thanx to a Camero.
I'd love that, but there are not a lot of us down here that i know of, Swany is the closest that comes to mind and he is four hours away. I wouldn't be opposed to a northern motor party, iffens there was a group interested. I got beer and meat money and not a bad hand at the BBQ. :D Ribs and...
No thanks been there doe that for many years in Iowa.
I bought a new started at AutoZone six or seven years ago. got the life time warrenty. I just put in the fourth new on about a month ago. :D I do a batery set and starter about every other year. :rotflmao Best $130 I have ever spent...
the thought has crossed my mind. the problem is, is that I don't have a place at the moment that will allow me to do it. My garage isn't big enough to be able to do the job, plus it is full of construction junk and has my 'toy ' car in it. the neighborhood has the oblogatory Azzhat that...
I have suspected this but now have confermation. Lost one cylinder (runs in the 200psi range) plus it leaks oil at front and back mains, and the turbo whine is now the bearings going out....Gah....
what to do... what to do...Rebuild or repalce....
I turn this thought over a lot...
