He has run it below a quarter tank and not had problems with running out or anything so I'm not sure about that. It supposedly only has 64k on it and it looks it. The engine is all gray yet with hardly any dirt or grime. Only things that may need replaced in my opinion are supply and return fuel...
My dads 91 will start up and run for a few seconds then die. Then it turns over and he keeps cranking it and pumping it then finally it starts with lots of smoke and it revs up then settles back down. Whats wrong? Is it losing pressure in the lines or what? And from where? We can't see any...
It's a 91 with a 7.3 and a 5 speed so assume the 5 speed has an overdrive like most do. He doesn't really need top end and would probably be better to have the lower end power. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't completely kill the highway cruising.
My dad's truck currently has 3.54 gears. He runs 33 inch tires. The stock 3.54 rear axle is an open differential. He has a good limited slip rear with 4.10 gears and a matching front end. Swap is not a problem we have done them before. Would he be better off to keep the 3.54s or would putting...
Knowing my dad he will probably try the add a leaf mentioned earlier since its cost effective. This is just his daily driver work truck. As long as the suspension isn't toooo hard. Hes used to the old truck springs and stuff.
Its sagging enough now the the tires are not even straight, I believe raising it a few inches would actually put the tires where they are supposed to be. How is the ride with an add a leaf on these heavy front packs? like a tank?
Hes not looking to lift it really. Its sagging below what it should ride at, at least 1-2 inches, we want to lift it back to wear it should sit, and perhaps an inch or so above that so everything will line up and we wont have ttb problems. rearching springs or springs out of something else that...
My dad has a 91 Ford f250 and the front springs are a bit worn. They are bent completely up with almost no travel. With 33 inch tires there is only about 5-6 inches to the fender. How are you guys lifting something like this up a bit? Say 3 inches or so to bring it a bit more aggressive and...
It almost seems as though temperature has a slight effect on this problem too. It would start just fine earlier this year when it was a bit warmer but now that its been cold it wants to do this more often.
Ok my dads 91 has a weird starting issue. Sometimes when he starts it, it will start then run for a few seconds then shut off. Then he has to crank it forever for it to fire again. Then sometimes it fires and stays running and does not randomly shut off. What is causing it to do this only half...
He already put a brand new filter on. We just poured a whole 40 gallon treatment of Diesel Kleen in about a 1/3 tank of fuel and after idling for a few minutes and revving it up a little bit a few times it fixed. wont shutter or shut off at all now. thanks for the great info guys.
My dad has a 91 7.3 and if he raps the throttle or revs it up, if he lets off the pedal it will just die. What is the deal here? Lift pump bad or what? All help would be appreciated.
